Rooms are clean. Pool was long enough to swim laps in. Food was fine. They have air con and TV with movies in English.
Warning to travelers (not hotels fault) Zimbabwe changed they're currency to US Dollars in late 2016. And somehow their conversion got eschew. A ride from the airport is $15USD for 20KM. A breakfast at the hotel will cost you $18USD (the hotel charges $107/night - next cheapest option was a tent for $35!) A ride to town is $5USD (only 3 blocks walk - that's more than an Uber driver makes in California!) To enter the falls from Zimbabwawe side is $30USD, from Zambia side is $20USD. Everyone tries to sell you the helicopter ride for $150USD (but we were able to find a spot in town for $120). Actually almost every "adventure" will cost you $150USD - safari, elephant walk, lion walk. Ignore the piece of paper they print for you, it can be negotiated. All the companies have colluded, so all the prices are the same. Seems all the brokers in town have come together for a set price.
The falls are beautiful but this trip is going to cost $1000+USD (per person) for 4 nights, livingstone island tour, elephant ride, helicopter ride and safari. Unless you absolutely have to check off Victoria Falls from your bucket list, other countries around the world offer similar adventures for much less.
The only good part of everything being so astronomically expensive is there are barely any other tourists around. We got a private elephant walk. Maybe it's low season too at the end of March.
My advice to you, come see the falls when they've finally figured out the wonky conversion and it's reasonablly priced. Till then, save your money and spend it in a country where your dollar will go much further like South Africa. Or if you must, come for 2 nights max, see the falls do the Livingstone island and...
Read moreGreat customer care. I first went to this place to enquire just how much it would be say per chance I win he lottery I go there. And this time, I thought let me treat my wife. So we spoke to Sibusisiwe Moyo, and hotelling has never been so homey. The poor man in me felt so honoured. However, since poverty is never written on our foreheads we asked to see the room. A young lady accompanied us to an exquisite room. With each additional unit of communion, with the staff and scenery gave us more and more satisfaction. The law of diminishing returns truely has not been to Cresta Sprayview. The pool was sparkling clean and well lit. So soon after checking in we took a dive into the pool. It was nice and cool. Cooling and soothing not only the body but the soul as well. We found complimentary, water in our room and it was just amazing. We got up to a hearty breakfast and of course a last plunge in the pool (which is as clean as seen on TV). We'd asked to check out a little later than Usual and Sibusisiwe was just marvelous. Did I mention Hamesen Siwela, that bar man is not a bar man. He's the man even for non alcoholics like me. Keep up the good work Cresta Sprayview...
By the way, while having breakfast we notice someone seated all alone and asked we could join. The person, was sweet we spoke about life and it's wores and joys. Right under our skin, I realised that regardless of were we are from, we are all just human. I recommend that Cresta have a labelled communal table for those who may want sit and interact with others. We all have stories to share hey, why travel if you want to be alone but hey who...
Read moreWon’t stay here again. We stayed here for 3 days. Good- clean room, comfortable bed. That’s where it stopped. The food wasn’t great. Flies around the buffet. Greasy badly cooked egg station. Only 1 awful bran cereal, bacon on a hamburger was the size of a 20 cent piece. Chips were uncooked, soft and greasy. No ice for drinks. The ice machine was broken the whole time. The staff’s grasp of English was not great, so queries were either not understood or they never got back to us. No atmosphere at all, guests did not use either bars. The place was empty and uninviting. We had minimal water coming out of the shower and was only luke warm. We were told it would be fixed, but nothing happened. The hot tap at the sink, didn’t work at all. Air con in the second room didn’t work. The tour guest girl writes any tours you book on a piece of paper and adds up without a calculator. She overcharged us $100au. Lucky we corrected her. We then got receipts for each trip with no price recorded. And then she gave us the wrong change which we didn’t notice and lost out on $10au. You may see a sign for a shuttle bus, but there was a reason every day for it not being available. Never written anything so long, and have travelled to over 20 countries, but this place is...
