This is a very difficult review to write, simply for the fact that our first impressions and the service we later received could not have been more different.||Having arrived in town on a group camping trip and desperately wanting to upgrade from a sleeping bag on the floor for a couple of nights, we made a last minute booking for two rooms for two nights. Paid for and confirmed, we were stunned to learn upon arrival that, actually, they only had one room... even though we had already paid for two.||Not only was that clearly a problem, the man on reception seemed equally stunned, but rather than apologising or trying to sort something out, he stared and said nothing, almost expecting for us to work out a solution. One of our party had to go back to the campgrounds for the night and check in again the next day. Thankfully, we were at least given a cash refund for the one night for the room we didn’t get. And the next day, the same man who hadn’t been able to help us when we needed it was much more apologetic and warm, asking if there was anything he could do to make the experience up to us, and happily calling us a taxi when we needed it.||The rooms themselves are terrible - probably the worst we have ever stayed in, but you don’t expect luxury in Africa without paying big bucks - but it is the service and that bizarre difference between day one and day two that we will remember. ||The wifi worked some of the time, which was a bonus, but we didn’t get to have the free breakfast as a massive school group were just ahead of us in line and we didn’t want to waste any of our precious Victoria Falls time on a long wait for food.||Do not go to this hotel if you’re expecting a nice room - it’s a concrete box with a roof - but if you’re looking for a bed, as we were, it will...
Read moreabsolutely horrible food. served us beed stew one day, it wasn't stew it was just water! rice tasted like it was only popped in the pot all for one minute. and don't even get me started on those horrible excuses for desert. only time i had a proper meal here was when i ordered out one night.
rooms were small and the linen on the beds are not to be trusted. fans make a weird noise making them seem like they're on the verge of falling and cutting your head off. only decent rooms are the 100's which are close to reception.
wifi wouldn't work at all past the 200's rooms so you'd have to get out of your room if you simply wanted to call someone. hot water was very unreliable. bathrooms had no doors at all. there was mold on the shower curtains that the hotel had the audacity to tell us were "permanent stains". some showers didn't even have showerheads which was extremely laughable. lots of cockroaches located around the rooms, and not the small ones, the big ones.
only highlight of staying here was when i packed my bags and left. i understand it's a budget hotel and that you shouldn't expect elephant hills service but it was truly a horrible experience. i assure you you'd be better off sleeping in...
Read moreThe rooms are basic with a bed comfortable enough to rest for the night - the comfort is one notch higher than sleeping on the floor. The TV is the old Ray Cathode Tube 14" Color TV and as a guest your choice of channels to watch is controlled at the reception. The rooms have aircon, which is very good. The restaurant is the worst part of your experience - you can even wait for over 45 minutes for your breakfast on a busy morning. The rooms have...
