Perched high above with breathtaking views of the ocean and boats below, Shirley Heights Lookout in Antigua offers an unforgettable dining experience that combines stunning scenery, mouthwatering cuisine, and lively entertainment.

Upon arrival at Shirley Heights Lookout, I was immediately struck by the beauty of its location. The outdoor dining area provides panoramic views of the azure waters stretching out as far as the eye can see, with sailboats dotting the horizon. It's the perfect spot to soak in the natural beauty of Antigua while enjoying a delicious meal.

Speaking of meals, the food at Shirley Heights Lookout is nothing short of exceptional. I had the pleasure of trying the ribs, and they were truly a highlight of the dining experience. Tender, juicy, and falling off the bone, they were a carnivore's dream come true. Each bite was bursting with flavor, leaving me craving more.

As if the breathtaking views and delectable food weren't enough, Shirley Heights Lookout also offers live music to enhance the atmosphere. The sounds of local musicians playing Caribbean tunes added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening, creating a lively and festive ambiance.

And let's not forget about the sunset. Witnessing the sun dip below the horizon while dining at Shirley Heights Lookout is a truly magical experience. The sky painted in hues of orange and pink creates a stunning backdrop for an already unforgettable evening.

Overall, my experience at Shirley Heights Lookout surpassed all expectations. With its picturesque setting, mouthwatering cuisine, live music, and unforgettable sunsets, it's a must-visit destination for anyone...

Shirley Heights Lookout Restaurant A Must Visit for Sunset Views & History Lovers!

Visited during my trip to Antigua not for the food, but for the breathtaking panoramic views and rich historical setting. Even without dining, the experience was unforgettable. If you're coming just for the views and history, it's still 100% worth it!

The restaurant is built among restored military ruins, transforming a historic site into a vibrant, open air destination full of Caribbean charm.

📍 Location Tip: Located inside a national park with entrance fee of $40 EC / $15 USD (includes access to the Officer's Quarters & The Blockhouse).

✨ What Makes It Special: Perched high above English and Falmouth Harbours, the views especially at sunset or sunrise are absolutely stunning. Watching the harbor glow under golden skies is truly magical.

✨️ Helpful Tips: ⏳️ Arrive early on Sundays for the best seats and to avoid long lines (based on reviews).

🌅 Weekdays are quieter and great for a peaceful experience.

💲 Bring cash/card, food & drinks can be pricey, but the vibe makes up for it (according to other reviews).

📸 Don’t forget your camera, this place is a goldmine for sunrise and sunset photography!

Even without trying the food or drinks, I can say Shirley Heights is a must see in Antigua. From local music and culture to its unbeatable views, it’s perfect for travelers looking to experience the island’s spirit.

The Shirley Heights Lookout an Historic Military (now decommissioned) Fort and is situated in the English Harbour area and it is a part of the Antigua National Parks. The spectacular, breathtaking and picturesque hilltop view of the Nelson's Dockyard and environs is the most Iconic and photographed view in Antigua and Barbuda. The sunset views from that location (with Restaurant, Bar and Event Facilities) is quite spectacular and the live music and party atmosphere on Sundays is especially electrifying. I have enjoyed the Great Food, live Music and Entertainment of several occasions ( the bar-b-que ribs is mouthwatering and delicious). Many Weddings and other events have this venue in common and the awesome view ( anytime of day ) is just fantastic forming a great backdrop to many "I was here" Photos. The staff is a quite friendly and helpful bunch making the whole experience more relaxing and enjoyable. The grounds do not only consist of a cliff but there is ample lawn space and also shaded eating and picnic areas as well as a restored Georgian era building and other structures of interest. Souvenir Vendors sometimes give nuggets of information to the inquiring visitor. All in all this is a great place of interest in Antigua and Barbuda and should definitely be on the list of top Places to Visit...

3 Can’t Miss Spots in Antigua: 🌴 Dickenson Bay Beach: Sink your toes into the soft sands of Antigua’s most famous beach where turquoise waters beckon. You will find there a telephone booth for fun photo ops, a floating bar and plenty of space to relax. 🌴 Shirley Heights Lookout: Ascend to panoramic views and colonial charm at this historic vantage point overlooking English Harbour. It is an iconic spot so definitely not to miss. 🌴 Carlisle Bay Beach: Dive into Caribbean bliss at this idyllic stretch of coastline, perfect for snorkeling and sun-soaked relaxation. This place is more known by locals so if you want to escape crowds here is you place. We visited the island while we were on board @virginvoyages. Many people think that when you are on a cruise you won’t be able to explore places. We drove around almost the entire Antigua and saw so much during the port day. ❓What do you think? My group went for the food, the sunset, and the music. However, because of covid restrictions, the usual dance party and live bands was simply radio music piped through speakers. What I liked was the "family cookout" setup of the food-- open grills, flames jumping up to season the meat, smoke billowing. The smells of summer! The menu was typical backyard BBQ-esque: hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken. Beware for those that only eat all-beef hot dogs. These are not. But it was still not bad. You also get your choice of a side salad, rice and beans, and potato salad. The main attraction of Shirley Heights is definitely the sunset. It's up on a hill/mountain overlooking a town and the water. It was beautiful. It's unobstructed, straight on, like you're watching one of the most beautiful live shows known to man. All-in-all, it was a very good experience. I would have chosen something different to eat but that's only because of personal preference. The hostess, the cooks, the servers were all so nice and knowledgeable about the area and gave us a deeper history lesson about the location. And the sunset was nothing short of beautiful. I know it happens every single day, but to see it dip behind another hill, and to see the sky illuminated with all the colors was spectacular.
