Academy of Rum — Attraction in Antigua

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Academy of Rum in English Harbor, and I must say, it was an absolutely amazing experience. From start to finish, the staff at the Academy went above and beyond to ensure that our rum making adventure was nothing short of fantastic.

One of the first things that struck me was the level of enthusiasm and fun that the staff brought to the experience. They were not only knowledgeable about the art of rum making, but they also had a genuine passion for sharing their expertise with others. Their patience and willingness to answer all of our questions made the entire process even more enjoyable.

The Academy of Rum offered a comprehensive program that covered everything from the distilling process to understanding different flavor profiles. We had the opportunity to get hands-on with the distilling equipment and learn about the intricate steps involved in creating a high-quality rum. It was truly fascinating to see the attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into each bottle.

But perhaps the highlight of the experience was the tasting session. We were treated to a selection of their finest rums, each with its own unique flavor and character. The staff guided us through the tasting, explaining the nuances and characteristics of each rum. It was a true sensory delight, and it left us with a newfound appreciation for the art of rum making.

At the end of the class, we had the opportunity to bottle our very own custom bottle of Antigua rum. It was a wonderful keepsake to commemorate our experience at the Academy of Rum.

I cannot recommend the rum making class at the Academy of Rum highly enough. Whether you're a rum enthusiast or someone looking for a memorable and enjoyable activity, this experience is truly worth it. The staff's passion, knowledge, and dedication to creating a fun and educational atmosphere make it an experience like no other.

Rip off! Scammers!! We were here October 15th we booked the rum making for 2 with each our own station as well as the pickup and drop off transportation option. They sent an email confirming the purchase and asking for our resort info which we provided. They followed up saying they don’t offer a transportation option for our resort. I said thats fine can I get a refund for only the transportation option since we will still do the class but have to find our own transportation. THEY NEVER RESPONDED I HAVE SENT 5 SEPARATE EMAILS FOLLOWING UP!! No where on there website does it say the resorts the do or don’t pick up from so I am sure I’m not the only one thats had this happen. They are clearly a dishonest business and after the experience with the class it wasn’t worth the money of the class or the headache dealing with this. Save your money and go somewhere else that wont scam you and...

One of my best experiences. Our teacher was fabulous and we had tons of fun. We learned a lot about rum (with many delicious tastes of many delicious flavors) and then making our own flavor was a blast. We actually made it all the way home with our bottle intact. Love our label! Note: I did not book through my cruise ship. We just went. The hardest part was finally getting nice taxis (The cruise port is a cray cray mob). I would recommend staying at this Galleon beach area for a while, but if you get a taste of it from a cruise ship you will certainly come to the same conclusion.
