I used to love going to Gold Class at least 2-3 times a year to catch up with mates and have a good-old splurge of food and drinks. After last night's experience, Gold Class has officially died; and I won't ever been using the service again.
Problem #1: Notifying People of Changes.
So at some point since my last visit, staff no longer announce when the Cinema is ready for you to enter. Sadly this isn't listed on the Event Cinemas site, nor on any posters, noticeboards etc. Nor do staff tell you ahead of time. So about half our cinema sat in the lobby, only to wander in to see what was happening to find the movie was starting. Whoever decided to change this and rely on "people working it out themselves" should be fired for a dumb approach to customer service.
Problem #2: Maintenance.
Maintenance of facilities is a key activity that should be done on the regular. The state of the reclines in Cinema 2 clearly shows no one cares. Whilst the chairs are comfortable, the foot rests pop and click as they struggle to lift; and make as much noise as your standard forklift in operation. Nothing attracts the attention of other people in the cinema like trying to lift my foot rest.
(Side Note: My friends and I get the same chairs in our bookings. This has been reported several times over a 3-year period, with clearly nothing done).
Problem #3: The Food and Organizing.
Gold Class Food was actually one of the things my friends and I looked forward to. Yes, the costs are high for what you get, but we understand that. Last nights service could only be described as terrible. All of the food we had ordered came in either cold or luke-warm, which has been a noticeable issue for the last couple of visits.
The worst part was ordering desserts that didn't arrive only to be handed them on our way out of the movie (40 minutes late). The manager was only willing to refund the desserts and didn't seem to really care about the comments about the other items.
All-in-all, all the things that used to make Marion Gold-Class a standout place to go have all gone now. There are no saving graces for the service, which is a shame. Definitely won't ever use the service ever again and I'll be going out of my way to advise others to...
Read moreI am not typically one to leave negative reviews, but my recent experience at this cinema was disappointing. The staff, who appeared young and possibly new to customer service, lacked the professionalism expected in such roles. As an 18-year-old supervising my younger sister, I encountered several issues that affected our overall experience.
First, when booking our tickets, we were not informed that both attendees had to be over 18 to watch the movie , resulting in us waiting for nearly two hours. Later, I upgraded our tickets to Gold Class for my sister's birthday, and despite this, we still weren’t made aware of the age restriction.
The situation escalated when I approached the Gold Class counter bar to request chocolate pods. The staff member asked for IDs, and after I showed mine, I explained that I was supervising my sister. While I understand the need for verification, the staff member's tone was unnecessarily harsh and unwelcoming. Rather than addressing the issue in a courteous manner, I was told we couldn't watch the R18+ movie, which would have been fine had it been communicated respectfully.
Another staff member offered to switch us to a different movie, which I was willing to do, but the original employee insisted we weren’t allowed in at all, again using an inappropriate tone. When I sought clarification from a different staff member, who had been polite throughout, I was told it was possible to bring my sister in under my supervision. However, this conflicted with the supervisor’s instructions, creating confusion. Despite my prior experiences at the cinema with similar circumstances, the supervisor dismissed my concerns with a condescending comment.
Adding to the frustration, as we were walking between Gold Class and the main area multiple times, two staff members at the bar were clearly whispering and making unpleasant facial expressions, which further diminished the quality of our experience.
Overall, the lack of communication, poor customer service, and unprofessional behavior left a negative impression. I am still awaiting a refund and, based on this experience, cannot recommend...
Read moreIf I could rate this 0 stars I would. My two daughters (aged 16 and 15) went to this cinema on Tuesday (10/6) and had a horrible experience with this one young male employee. My went to watch the film Final Destination (MA 15), before the movie they went to the bathroom where a ‘caution floor is wet’ sign was on display, as the walked in this worker yelled at them saying that they were not allowed to go to the bathroom. My girls then were sitting on one of the couches and decided to film a fun lip syncing video of them selfs on TikTok. The same employee came up to them yelling at them to delete the TikTok they filmed, when the girls questioned this, he grabbed the phone and deleted it. As the film was beginning, my girls went to walk into the cinema and the same employee stopped them asking to see their ID, for proof that they are 15 or older. My eldest gave her learners drivers license and my youngest gave her school ID. The employee did not believe them accusing my girls of using a fake ID to get into the cinema. He then marched them up to the kiosk giving them a refund for their tickets and told them to leave the cinema or he would contact Westfeild security. My girls were messaging me what happened as it was happening and then told me the full story when I came home from work that evening. I was told that this man was speaking to them very rudely, which I do not doubt. My girls are very respectful and shy, so I know that they would have been speaking to this man with respect and kindness but unfortunately they received horrible treatment from him. I am utterly disgusted and disappointed as my girls wanted to enjoy their day off of school at the cinemas. I truely believe that this man targets young people/ teenagers to pick on as my 17 year old nephew and 12 year old niece had a similar experience with the same man a couple of months ago. I was going to call the cinema to let them know of this encounter however my girls told me that he was not wearing his name badge, which is very...
