I actually rode on the M bike to the reserve from the city, it was scenic but it seemed like a longer ride. I'm moving near the area and wanted to see how the ride was on the bike/walk track. Nice but if your mode of transport is a bike and for some reason you need to get here in a hurry and you're in the city, I suggest you ride on Payneham road it's quicker
Over all the reserve is actually spacious and a nice place to relax, but the houses are close, it feels like you're walking on their front lawn. It needs some divider to have some feeling of privacy or give the illusion of having some distance from the potential Ms Mangels or Karen's/ Kevins of the area. Read moreA well-maintained, very functional and pleasant open space great for both casual walks and more serious fitness. The track around the perimeter is marked at certain distances so you can track your run even without a smartwatch or GPS. There are ample shaded benches good for gatherings, and the grills seem cleaned often. You definitely encounter a good amount of ibises, as promised by the park advertising, along with other birds, but there doesnt seems to be enough to cause problems to visitors. It was an off-leash area (but was dry, cracks in the ground and dogs always came home full of prickles). I assume when wetlands reopen (apparently due for completion October-ish, with opening slated before Christmas) it won’t be an off lead area anymore - I’m not sure if any surrounding reserves will offer this amenity.
