My partner and I decided to try out Sushi Gallery after friends of friends recommended this place. Upon entering, it was a cosy restaurant seating approximately 20 people. We were lucky to get a table without waiting because within 15 minutes there was a lineup to get in! We arrived a bit after 6pm on a Tuesday night, so we felt confident the food would be good considering it was quite busy for a weeknight. The kitchen appeared to consist of a husband and wife and only the one waitress who also took orders and payments. After ordering our food, we waited approximately 45 minutes for the food to come out. I can imagine on a warm night we would have felt quite stuffy considering there was not much air circulation in the small area. However there were jugs of water placed in the fridge which is free for each table so that was a positive. I ordered the dol sot bibimbap and my partner ordered the japchae. Prior to our mains coming out, we received complimentary mini sides of kimchi, eggplant and bean sprouts, as you would at most Korean restaurants. They were all tasty and refreshing. The dol sot bibimbap came out with its own bottle of a type of sweet chilli sauce, so you can add as much or as little sauce as you want. My partner and I shared our dishes and both were full of flavour, hot and absolutely delicious. I can see why it was so busy! The only critique I would have for both dishes is that they both lacked meat. Otherwise would recommend this place - one of the better Korean restaurants I have been to.

I recently stumbled on Doobydobap on YouTube , by Tina a very quirky young lady living in Korea who makes quite charming videos. But what was intriguing to me as is often the case, was her 24 hours eating street food like a local. It all looked delicious, and then I saw her chowing down in Soondae Gookbap. Now something you have to know about me, I don't find offal awful at all. I love it. I believe "if you gonna eat the meat, you gotta eat the treats (the rest). It's only fair on an animal that has sacrificed itself for your sustenance. Anyways, I looked up where to get this dish in Adelaide but was lucky enough for my Korean hairdresser {Hi Hye-Mi!} to suggest this place whose name does not indicate Korean home cooked food at all. Waited for it to open first thing in the morning, one other Korean couple doing the same. I ask for Soondae Gookbap, the gentle old man store owner exclaims "are you sure"? I grin and say "yes, that's why I am here." When serving the older lady chef takes charge and puts pickled shrimp 🍤 and spicy 🔥 sambal in straight away. I dump the rice into the soup and get stuck in. It's really so savoury and tasty! And FILLING, by the gods I was stuffed! I've never been so full after one dish. I've nothing to compare it to it being my first time eating, but I'm a fan. For such an unassuming place, it's a delight. I'll be making special trips to this side of town just for this place.

Sushi Gallery is hands down my go-to Korean restaurant in Adelaide. I’ve been here several times, and it never disappoints. It’s not a fancy or high-end place, but that’s exactly what I love about it — it’s cozy, welcoming, and all about the food. The vibe is very homey and relaxed, almost like visiting a friend's kitchen. The staff are always kind and friendly, doing their best to accommodate guests even when it’s fully booked. That said, it’s almost always busy, so I definitely recommend booking ahead or calling in advance to avoid waiting. I first came here thanks to a recommendation from a Korean colleague, and now I completely understand why this place is so well-loved among the Korean community. The flavors are authentic and comforting — the kind that makes you want to come back again and again. The black bean noodles with seafood (Jjajangmyeon) are a favorite — rich, deep, and perfectly balanced. I’m also a big fan of their soups, which are warming and packed with flavor. And the stir-fried bulgogi is always a great choice, especially when paired with rice. It’s simple, it’s delicious, and it always hits the spot. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a true Korean comfort food experience in Adelaide!
