Every single time I've been here to pick up takeaway meals there has been some issue, tonight was the worst experience.
The waiting area packed with way too many people, but no staff seemed to be able to tell who had ordered/advised they were waiting for an online/phone order.
After being asked to stand outside - eventually getting a staff members attention to say who I was and what I was waiting for - I along with 3 others watched as people came and went, uber eats and menu log pickups mostly, and we waited.
A staff member came outside and took our names, asked what we had ordered, which would be fine had we not already done this multiple times.
The group outside began talking and found that we all ordered at around the same time, and we're all told 20-25 minutes, pretty standard wait times, however at that point we had all been waiting nearly an hour.
The others waiting with me got their meals and left, and then it was just me, I finally got my meal an hour and 20 minutes after I arrived at the restaurant, which was 20 minutes after I called.
I don't mind waiting for food, I understand that things happen and can cause delays, but I can't stand I been asked who I am and what I'm waiting for multiple times and watching more groups than I could count on my fingers and toes come and go with no issues.
As for the food, it was ok. The beef could have been better quality, but the flavour was great. The rice was barely warm by the time I got to eat it. The lemon chicken (that I had to wait another 15 minutes for after they brought out the rest of my meal) was hot, so I'll give them a star for that.
Overall I'm just disappointed that such a highly rated restaurant could have such sub par service, and it was...
Read moreHave been once before but was undecided, so thought we'd give this a second chance. The place looks like your typical Aussie Chinese, like something out of a classic Australian movie (think Muriel's Wedding!) It was very busy for a Sunday, which was a positive thing I guess. Staff seemed frantic as there was a couple of large tables there for a birthday. Staff kept coming over to take our order as if they wanted us in & out quickly. Ordered a flaming Pork dish, Kinto Ribs, for the novelty, Pork was ok, dry, nothing great. The Szechuan Chicken was way too sweet (as was the entree Satay skewers), but the biggest disappointment was the 'Sizzling Garlic Squid'. This was definitely NOT sizzling and WAY undercooked (pretty much raw). We never usually send food back but this was inedible.. I nice young female waiter kindly took it back and we swapped it for some noodle dish (Kway Teow Flat Noodle) , but noodles were soggy, most was left on the plate. A waiter kept fumbling around the table, trying to clear, dropping plates & taking our wine glasses away when we were not finished yet! (think of an Asian Mr Bean!) We couldn't wait to leave, and our cue was the ridiculous 1970's 'Happy Birthday' backing track for the birthday table to sing along to! 🤣 Terrible atmosphere, lights are way too bright, and we felt very rushed. Tried this place twice, will...
Read moreI almost gave 5 Stars, but the first course of our Banquet, BBQ Beef Satays, were over cooked, dry and tough. Everything else was worthy of a full 5. Six 'mature aged' diners for New Year's Eve, I was the youngest at near 79 years. All the courses arrived HOT and freshly cooked, Prawns were great, Salt and Pepper Squid excellent and the Sizzling Steak was the absolute highlight. A little theatre with the flambé ribs. Prince Room has been going for 44 years and a recent renovation has lightened and brightened to rooms. One staff member has been in service for 38 years, so she must be doing something right. The rest of the staff are young and eager to serve and please. I started to dine at Prince Room when it first opened and have no reason to go elsewhere for a good...
