Birubi Point beach (NSW 238) is a 400 m long southeast-facing sand beach bordered by the rocks of the point, together with rocks outcropping along and off the beach. Waves average over 1 m, and maintain three permanent rock-controlled rips. The beach is backed by a large car park, picnic area, fenced aboriginal midden and then the Birubi Point residential area that extends 1 km north to Anna Bay. A potentially hazardous beach especially during southerly waves when three rips are operating amongst the rocks. Stay on the bar and well away from the rocks. Too many rocks for safe surfing. Known to fishers as Cemetery Point both the rocks and the beach are popular and readily accessible spots. Read moreAlways a beautiful stretch of coastline. Has the cafe next to the surf lifesaving club. It is quite expensive which is puzzling as they are ALWAYS busy. My advice is pack a lunch & save a bucket. There are toilets & showers available plus a wheelchair accessible ramp. Parking is somewhat an issue as it gets extremely busy. As well as the top carpark, which is bitumised, there is a road down onto the sand from there & quite a lot of parking available. Still, even that gets full regularly. Today the beach was closed for swimming due to a large & dangerous swell. Not even the surfers were out. You could walk along the beach still. Camel rides operate from next to the sand beach carpark.
