As a seasoned traveler who has visited hundreds of attractions worldwide, I found The Crystal Caves in Atherton, Queensland, to be a delightful gem. Full disclosure: I didnât explore the actual Crystal Cave due to the entry fee, which felt a bit steep for my familyâs budget.
However, my review is based on the shop front, its products, and the geode-cracking experience, all of which were fantastic.
The shop is a treasure trove for crystal and gem enthusiasts. Itâs well-stocked with an impressive variety of crystals, gems, and related items that are visually stunning and appealing to collectors, casual browsers, or anyone with a curiosity for geology.
The displays are engaging, and thereâs plenty of cool stuff for kids to explore, making it a great spot for families to learn about crystals in a fun, hands-on way.
While I would have loved to experience the Crystal Cave itself, we opted for the geode-cracking activity, which weâd seen online before our visit. This was the highlight of our trip!
The experience starts at around $30 for a small geode, perfect for kids, with larger options priced around $90, $100, and up to $300 for a massive one. The process of cracking open the geode was thrilling and incredibly fun, especially for the kids. I wonât post photos of them, but the sheer excitement on their faces when they saw the sparkling crystals inside was priceless.
Itâs an activity that delivers great value and creates lasting memories. The young woman who assisted us was exceptional. Her customer service skills were outstanding professional, friendly, and engaging, especially for someone so young. She deserves a pay rise for making our visit so memorable!
Even without entering the cave, The Crystal Caves is well worth a visit. If youâre within a couple hundred kilometers of Atherton, I highly recommend stopping by to explore the shop and try the geode-cracking experience. Itâs a unique and enjoyable outing for families, crystal enthusiasts, or anyone looking for...
Read moreI went to the Crystal Caves with my late father when I was a kid, so when my partner and I went camping this past weekend I wanted to go back and relive my childhood memories. The caves themselves were just as I remember them, gorgeous, and the massive Amethyst stone was so worth the drive to Atherton. My partner wanted to buy me a crystal to remember our time there, so after we went through the caves we looked around at the gift shop. I had noticed one of the staff, Italo I think his name was, was eyeing down my partner the entire time. I walked up to him and whispered, âOne of the staff is watching you very closely.â My partner was confused as to why he was being watched, so he went and asked the staff member. Italo had then accused my partner of stealing, and said he was âacting suspicious by browsing all the crystals in the shop.â As far as I am aware⌠donât you browse items in a shop before purchasing? My partner had even went out of his way to empty his pockets and prove to Italo that he took nothing, and he was just browsing, to then which Italo mentioned that we had a bowl full of crystals that had somehow âmagically disappeared.â However, Italo had WATCHED myself put each of the crystals back, I was standing right next to him when I did it! My partner had then asked Italo to speak to a manager, which Italo said no to, so we spoke to a different staff member at the store who was so lovely and helpful. My partner then spoke to the manager on the phone, who was also extremely lovely and had definitely made us feel like our complaint mattered. Besides our issues with Italo, the experience was overall great! Very good pricing, no wait time at all, and had BOUGHT some crystals to remember our visit there. Only thing is to teach some of the older generation of staff.. Italo⌠that just because we might be kids and we may âlookâ like people who steal to you, does not give you a right...
Read moreMy review is my review. My experience is by law you mention in a page the dye process. There is so much you read in your wall.
You don't really want the customers know the dye process. Your business is to sell beautiful fake stone
Quite a good business, however, you should mention it
Customers come to Atherton and leave Atherton almost immediately. They are tourist.
1 the tour, not that bad not that good. Can see lot of stones otherwise call it crystal cave is quite confuse for a man cave. The shop, the stone are real however they coloured them. They should mention it but they not. Even if they can not believe two of us can not see that's not the original colour, we probably dumb, There is a paper in the wall to show with metal to change the colour. Quite impossible to see it and they not explicitly say they coloured the stones. They didn't give a ticket but again that's us should ask them it
That s shop is like go the organic shop and you eat there thinking it's organic but it's not.
Quite a shame to see that beautiful stones in the cave and sell the rubbish one,...
