The Ayr Nature Display was an unexpected highlight of our trip! The collection is absolutely extraordinary—so much thought and care has gone into curating an incredible variety of natural specimens. From rocks and gemstones to cone shells and the fascinating displays on bower birds, there’s something to captivate all ages. The knowledge and passion of the guide were exceptional, and really brought the exhibits to life. Our whole family walked away having learned so much. It's a must-visit for anyone curious about nature or looking for an educational and engaging stop in Ayr. The photos that I have added, don't do the displays justice and are only a small percent of what's on offer.

Wow, the amount of work that has gone into this display is amazing! The guide (son-in-law of the collector) was a font of knowledge and after introducing the collection allows you to take your own time to look closer. We spent an hour and really only glanced at everything. It really is a wonder how much is here: butterflies, insects, shells, ammonites, snake specimens, Queensland wood and stone samples, egg carvings etc, etc. Please note, they only take cash; something I've not used for months with COVID!

Astounding the amount of effort put in by the Allan Ey to collect and arrange the 66,000 specimens. The kids were amazed and thrilled by all the bugs, butterflies and shells. Four kids under 10 spent over an hour wandering around without destroying anything - that's how engrossed they were! The curator was great with the children and gave heaps of information. Well worth the very small admission fee.

Fantastic place. The owners go above and beyond to show you and tell you all the fascinating information. Meticulous details you can spend forever looking at and still see something different each time. You just don't get to see collections of this size and detail anymore. Kids and I really enjoyed it. Well worth a stop, stretch of the legs while going through Ayr.

What a fantastic place! I wasn’t really sure what we were going to find here, but it was so interesting and amazing. Loved all the displays. Very low cost to visit ($5 adults, $1 children). Would absolutely recommend you visit here if traveling through or to Ayr.

Well worth the visit. It was lovely to see creatures that we don’t see now. I didn’t know so many existed. Thank you for the informative tour and I hope the council keeps it open for future generations. A great place for children to visit as well
