Ballarat Mechanics' Institute — Attraction in Ballarat Central

Was here for a social function and had done so a number of years ago.

It's a beautiful venue which is largely well maintained and typical of the gorgeous buildings in Ballarat.

One of the best features of one of the rooms is balcony access. This proved very popular as we were dancing and in need of fresh air while enjoying supper.

It has a lift which is handy for those who don't want to climb the stairs....

I only found out about the Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute about 12 months ago and since then i have attended 5 of their events, which we have always thoroughly enjoyed, not only are they interesting and well priced but the amazing staff / volunteers that greet you and manage the events make the experience even better. Now this is a place of history! You can actually see, smell, touch and walk the hallowed halls where people of history did. It is faithfully restored to the decor and colour of the day. To see and view books that are over 300 years old is rather awe-inspiring. This place is open every day and it is worth the...
