🇹🇭 Ballarat's Hidden Thai Gem | A Culinary Love Letter.👀

If there’s one dish that deserves more love outside of Thailand, it’s Pad Kra Pao. While almost all Thai restaurants here in Australia do Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, etc., discovering a place that serves an authentic Pad Kra Pao is like finding hidden treasure. After falling in love with this dish during my trip to Bangkok, I now seek it out at every Thai restaurant I visit, and I must say, this is the best version I’ve had so far, here at Time 4 Thai in regional Ballarat, not in the capital Melbourne. In Melbourne, I’ve often encountered restaurants that charge separately for the fried egg or rice (or both!), which feels a bit incomplete and a rip-off. To me, a Pad Kra Pao isn’t finished without that fried juicy egg perched on top! And to make it worse, the flavour is generally not balanced enough. Time 4 Thai also went the extra mile in customer service. The owner (or staff member) thought I was ordering takeaway while I was actually going to dine in. When he brought out the takeaway from the kitchen and noticed my confusion, he offered to repackage my meal. He then insisted cooking me a new one instead, as he felt the presentation wouldn’t do justice to the meal. Would highly recommend this restaurant and its Pad Kra Pao. And would definitely eat here again when I’m in Ballarat next time.

Owners were lovely people and service was amazing. We stopped in for lunch after seeing other good reviews. We had the pork bao buns, satay skewers (hands down best skewers I have had period) so tender and the satay sauce was amazing. Prawn fried rice, Thai basil stir fry and Pad See Ew probably best I've ever had. For the quality of the food served the price is great. Definately a more authentic meal than slot of the other Thai I have had. Food presentation amazing, flavour amazing, service amazing then there was desert we had lemon meringue, banana fritters, and coconut moose all delicious. If you're in the area and feeling you want some Thai I can highly recommend this establishment. Great work all loved it

We had a great experience dropping in to Time 4 Thai on our journey from The Grampians back to Melbourne. The host was most welcoming and apologetic as we had bright in a bottle of wine with us but they aren’t BYO. We were offered some petit fours before our meal arrived which were amazing. The chef came out to great us and us what we thought of them which was very nice of her. We weren’t looking for a big meal and so the meals were choose were something different to what we would normally eat. We really enjoyed them together with the Four Sisters Merlot we ordered. Again, as we paid and departed, the front of house host was apologetic about us not being able to BYO and the gave us a complimentary gift as we left. So unexpected and lovely. I would definitely highly recommend this restaurant based on our experience. Lovely people, great food and service. Everything you could hope for. This is a gem of a place which deserves...

Went there for an evening meal, and recieved a very warm reception. Was promptly seated and after browsing a wide menu, selected the $49 banquet. Making a few changes to the preselcted items was no problem and i found the staff quite accomodating. The gluten free menu is as wide as the normal menu , so everyone will be more than happy. The food was excellent throughout the entire service. I have eaten at many Thai resteraunts, and this was up there with the best, BUT, the home made sauces and dressings, made this establishment just that little bit more special. Is number 1 on my list and am looking forward to returning. The restrooms which are out the back, are old and in keeping with the areas history, are clean and well maintained. The kitchen is on display, and was spotless and efficient. Thanks guys for a memorable meal, compliments...
