Like California, Aukland and even Saudi Arabia, Melbourne has its own Half Moon Bay. It's one of my favourite spots in Melbourne, especially during the summer months when I often cycle there on my bike and on those extreme hot days I even take a dip in the beautiful waters at Half Moon Beach to cool down before riding back. It really is a beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by the gorgeous Red Bluff cliffs which were in a Mad Max movie scene. As well as the great views over the water to the city, the sunken HMVS Cerberus submarine there, a historic shipwreck which now acts as a breakwater, is interesting to look at. The potato cakes from the fish and chip kiosk downstairs of the Cerberus Beach House (Kiosk & Restaurant) right on the beachfront, are to die for.

I recently visited Half Moon Beach in Melbourne and I must say, it is a truly beautiful and relaxing place. The beach itself is stunning, with soft sand and crystal-clear waters. It's the perfect spot to unwind and soak up the sun. From the cliff, you can enjoy panoramic vistas of the ocean and the surrounding coastline. It's a sight that is truly breathtaking and one that shouldn't be missed. The atmosphere at Half Moon Beach is also very serene and peaceful. It's not overly crowded, which adds to the overall tranquility of the place. Whether you're looking to take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline or simply sit back and enjoy the scenery, this beach offers the perfect environment to unwind and recharge. It's a hidden gem.

This is a great beach for little kids. The water is shallow, and it is shallow for a long way. Not so good if you want to have a proper swim. Toilets are available, but they get busy on hot days. Life saving club is right there, and so is the 'pricey' fish and chips shop (if you're on a budget, bring your own picnic). By the way, parking is a little difficult on busy days, and Council's parking inspectors visit regularly, so don't get caught out without a ticket. Boat ramp is used by a lot of people, and the paddle up to the shipwreck (Cerberus) is worth a go, but be careful in rough seas, don't get too close, there are submerge wooden piers close to the wreck and a strong current at ebbing tide.

It is a wonderful small beach. No rocks under water, just a soft sand. Good place to spend time with your family. Not much free land for sunbathing, as there are always a lot of people. There is also a car park, restaurant and public toilets in the area. People come here to ride Jet Ski and small yachts. If you are not interested in sunbathing and swimming, you can take a path to the nearest rocks and enjoy beautiful ocean views or watch a sunset or a sunrise. There is also a picnic/bbq area with large tables and benches.

Not only do you get an amazing view of the ship wreck while the sun sets, with nothing but nature behind you (better seen from the ship wreck if youre able to swim there ;)) but whats unexpected is the incredible service of the staff at the fish and chip store down there. They even noticed that my GF was feeling overheated and faint and offered a free icecream to help cope and brought our food order out sooner. Their customers matter to them and that always makes my day down there.

Very beautiful beach. Quite calm and shallow so fantastic for children. There is no shade so make sure you bring some sort of beach umbrella and slip, slop, slap. Can get very busy during school holidays. There are parking spots but you have to pay for parking - they have hourly or about $17 a day. There is a walk down a path to the beach (and uphill on the way back), there is a handrail but some little kids exhausted from the beach or elderly people may need help.
