Updating my review - 4 stars changed to 2 overall (have left previous review below).
Have tried several times since the change of ownership which was quite some time ago now, and it’s been really disappointing most times - both food and service. No avocado on the chicken and avocado sandwich, items forgotten compared to what was ordered, and it’s noticeable when what I assume is the family of the owners are having lunch they are the priority at the detriment to all other diners. The food quality just not the same. I’ve so wanted it to be my local favorite still but after 5 or 6 visits, with each one being average, sadly it’s just not. All the potential still and will try it occasionally in the hopes that things are addressed.

Read moreA bit disappointed with my poached eggs on Your choice of bread/toast. If I had not ordered a side of bacon, I would have had two poached eggs sitting on a long plate with two thinn long narrow wedges of toast. I am a local and when new owners take over Bayside cafes they must think that we are happy to have a mini sized breakfast for a much as they can charge. Ordered another piece of toast so the poached eggs had something to sit on. They didn't charge me for the toast that should have been there in the first place. Fix up your fancy small plate sizes please, most of us travel or holiday in the USA at some time a so we know what you can fit on a plate !
This was the most disturbing and disgusting experience I've had there today the 16th of December 2023. The food was not the greatest and the fact that I had a chunk of black hair in my mushrooms was beyond disturbing. Even more so when I showed the waitress she laughed at me as said we asked the chef and they said they don't know. Mind you they all had black hair. Then proceeded to blame me but yet I'm a red head. Plus the $20+ surcharge to sit inside to eat what cery little food we consumed is beyond me. By law you need to allow customers to know before they order about your surcharge not once we get to the register and show us in small print. I will be contacting the food safety department and the fair ombudsman. I've been a chef for 22 years and not once have I come across some disrespectful and disgusting people before....
