I was pretty disappointed with this place. Very underwhelming. Couldn't really have any close encounters & there really wasn't much wildlife. 2 wallabies, 1 dingo, 1 cassowary, an emu, 1 koala, seen only 1 crocodile, some unexciting birds (walked out of bird show within 5mins) All nocturnal animals were in complete darkness with ridiculous neon lighting. Pretty hard to see & impossible to photograph.
There were about 8 people in the place & the car park was essentially empty. You just end up walking around in circles & trying to guess which way is the best way to tackle it. Even with the map it was hard to even find the exits & ways to best get around with a pram. Lot's of steps.
Perhaps I've been too spoilt going to the best of the best wildlife places in Australia. Even one in the tiny town near Yeppoon was 10 000 times better & so much more interactive & exciting, especially for kids.
I'm a nanny & the parents & I thought this might have been a perfect, affordable place to get her out of the pram. And, get some wonderful photos of her & the wildlife. I didn't bother getting her out at all.
I'd recommend the owners to look at how other small places run ie the bird & butterfly houses (next door to each other) run their businesses in Kuranda & Qld.
Even many crocodile focussed places were soooo much better. Long time local & I wouldn't...
Read moreAt the cafe (on the terrace) a kookaburra jumped into my cappuccino, which spilled everywhere and then grabbed some of my fish and chips. The kookaburra was aggressive and kept coming back to the table to jump on it and grab more of my food. The kookaburra would not respond to being waved away and repeated to grab my food until I took the food back inside the cafe. I informed the cafe staff that I was unable to eat most of my food due to the kookaburra jumping all over the table and in my cappuccino and ruining my meal. They said that the kookaburras were wild and there was nothing they could do. I was provided with a new cappuccino but nothing for the $26 fish and chips that I was barely able to eat. The kookaburras were so aggressive that I felt unsafe eating on the terrace, and the park takes no protective measures for wild birds that have access to it. They also provided no assistance when I had a wild bird jumping all over my food and table.
The park itself was great and the shows were good, particularly the bird show. During the koala feeding the koalas woke up and did not just sleep the whole time. The staff were approachable and...

Undoubtedly the bird presentation was a big highlight, having large parrots and birds of prey swooping overhead and wild kookaburras, seamlessly joining the show, adding much excitement to the experience.
The wallaby sanctuary was another standout feature, particularly loved by the kids. The chance to interact so closely with these gentle creatures was a truly memorable moment, and the joy on the children’s faces a clear testament to the impact of these encounters.
While the park itself could benefit from some refurbishments, David Fleay's Wildlife Park delivers a rich and enjoyable wildlife experience. The engaging presentations, particularly the bird show, along with the opportunity to interact directly with animals, make it a worthwhile destination for families looking to explore Australia's unique fauna in a personal and...
