It makes me sad to write this, as I rarely leave negative reviews unless the experience was really disappointing. As someone who works in hospitality, I feel itâs important to highlight the quality and cooking of food here which is in desperate need of improvement. We dined on Oct 16 at 12:30pm.
Scallops came out so tiny and dry due to being extremely overcooked. At $5 per scallop, I had to return the dish and request a refund. Instead of quickly addressing the issue and apologising, the waitress tried to justify it, saying it was meant to be seared that way (even though she said at the end that she doesnât eat seafood so wouldnât know.) She ended up bringing more attention to the situation by asking the chef in front of me, âHey, is this overcooked?â When the chef responded with âNah,â I had to explain to her that, Iâm a chef myself and it was indeed overcooked. All I wanted was a quick, subtle straightforward refund.
Next came the Seared Beef and kimchi slaw salad with soba noodle. I couldnât believe it. You would think that because the entree was overcooked the chef would be more careful not to do the same with the next dish. The Mr Yum photo of the dish shows rare/medium rare thinly sliced meat which looked nothing like what we got. Meat was roughly cut in a pile and completely overcooked, dry and grey! We put it in a napkin to take home to the dog, it was that inedible. The soba noodles had zero dressing/ seasoning and the kimchi slaw was nothing like kimchi at all - no red chilli or dressing either. It was just plain dry cabbage and carrot. Egg tasted really old too.
The fried calamari wasnât crumbed coated properly. It was all stuck together. See photo* The fries were also really dry and overcooked.
Luckily the braised beef cheek made up for these three awful dishes. It was really delicious, fell apart nicely and portion size was decent - so props when itâs due.
Overall really disappointed having spent just over $100. I could understand if it was busy but it really wasnât that day. Hope this review helps smooth out some issues in...
Read moreWent here for my partnerâs 30th on Sunday. Food was great but we had a number of issues. The table ordering asks for a name but every time a meal was brought out, the staff had to ask 23 different people whose meal it was rather than using the name. We also had multiple orders come to our table that werenât ours. Most disappointingly, a few staff members were incredibly rude. I had to ask for plates to be cleared long after everyone had finished. When I asked, the young woman almost scoffed under her breath. She asked a young male staff member in front of me if he could clear our table and he laughed and said no. She laughed, asked a different young staff member and he also said no. Eventually, one of them said âcmon letâs just do it togetherâ and they did - but witnessing this unprofessionalism made me feel like my service was a burden on them. Lastly, as we were packing up to leave, a different female staff member came and stood in front of us with a cloth and spray, very passive aggressively waiting for us to move. We cleared all tables but the last, I was putting my kidâs shoes on my partner was saying goodbye to his friend when she asked us to leave. We still had 5 minutes of the booking. She offered us another table twice, my partner responded twice that we were gathering our things and leaving, and on the third time (all in succession) she very abruptly said âno you need to leave right now because I need this tableâ. Very very rude. We were gone before the end of our booking, but walked back in 30 minutes later after talking in the car park as one of my children had to use the bathroom and the tables were unused and had no reservation sign.
And a final note - the childrenâs play room needs to be much more thoroughly checked and cleaned, as my 4yo son brought a sharp nail to me that he found on the floor. Thank goodness it was him and not my 2yo or...
Read moreDined here last night, admittedly I was disappointed that they are still asking for check ins although they are no longer mandated in Qld, which got us off to a rocky start. MaĂŽtre D was quite defensive about it, I expressed it wasnât about me, itâs the principal of it all⌠anyways.
Meals came out, food quality had rapidly declined since our last visit. Last time we were here was December and the kids meals came with two sides. This time it was only chips, and Iâm kind of proud to say, my 3yo daughter doesnât like chips, she likes salad. The fish was different, it was actually better as last time it was two battered pieces, this time it was crumbed and a whole fillet. She loved it.
I ordered a Chicken Parmigiana, which is rare for me to do, but last time we visited a friend had ordered one and it looked amazing! So ordered the parmigiana, about 1/2 was covered in topping, the rest just schnitzel. Very disappointing. Salad constituted of mixed lettuce leaves with a piece of tomato, a bit of onion and maybe 2 slices of cucumber.
The venue has clearly changed hands, Iâm assuming the MaĂŽtre D is the owner. Very young staff that are all different to previous visits. Good place to take kids to play while adults have a drink and some nibbles, absolutely! But for the full package with a nice meal and non awkward service, thatâs...
