Revealing cruel cruel history of Parramatta girls incarcerated here in 1960s and 1970s. Very thought provoking and impactful. Appreciate the general historical displays and artifacts, including of the Traditional Owners - deep respect for them. But suggest those historical and cultural displays are not appropriately displayed in a former gaol. Suggest the gaol museum would be improved with more images and focus on the incarcerated girls and the Japanese and Italian POWs who were incarcerated here during WWII. Sad but true Australian history.

Blast from the past!! Beautifully laid out museum full of history from the town of Hay and the surrounds!! Somewhat wheelchair accessible, you'll get your wheelchair around over 3/4 of the goal and exhibits! It's a credit to the volunteers that run the place, unfortunately they wouldn't let us check our kids in as inmates and leave them there!!

A tour of the gaol will set you back $5, or if you wish to donate more. Payment can be made into a honest box, or payment to a EFTPOS terminal. The place itself has a collection of history items scattered around. There was a BBQ area out the back - not sure if this is use for functions. Toilets are the rear of the gaol.

Bit disappointed as it was not souly about the Goal. It was filled with other items. I would have love to see it 100% goal history. Empty cells, with maybe a cell cot, a photo of a convect and their information, same one with POW photo and info and same with photo of some girl and her info on staying there. Have the laundry fully set up. Room next door with long sorting tables. Wardens house set out with their photos, guards, and furnished in the period in each room. I feel all that stuff in there should be in a history museum only. Surely it being a goal it should only house like mannered items and...
