Arena Joondalup — Attraction in Joondalup

Excellent value for money, clean. Two cafes (although the coffee is rather average). Great kids space with a versatile pool 1m deep and a giant water slide (not steep). Good alternative to a themed waterpark . If you're taking kids for a swim remember that as a spectator you pay a small fee (I think it's AU$2.50).

10months later, I downgrade my 5-star review to a 3star. Because. It's a +40 degree day. The pool is shut .... For a Xmas pool party that opens at 1pm. Families with multiple children are lining up and ....waiting.

why? So we can be charged more. The swimming lanes are shut. Because there's a pool party. So... In a heat like this I cannot go to the beach and I cannot swim in my local pool.

And the kids are going nuts. In the line. What do you expect?

Still being forced to pay the full fee for pool membership, but access to the 50m pool has been severely limited. Thanks to the closure of the rec pool over summer, the number of people using the 50m pool has increased and closures due to school carnivals on during the day has meant more people using the pool in the evening. Added to this, outside of office-hours the 50m pool is often in 25m mode and limited lanes are available to the public - not very practical most people! Very disappointed in the Arena's lack of communication and information when the problem will be fixed. First of all I'd like to say the staff are friendly and approachable so no issues there. What I am reporting to be of a low standard is their new gym equipment, particularly the benches which are no better than what you'd buy for a home gym. Someone who obviously doesn't workout has made the poor decision to downgrade the equipment based on price alone. Not only are the benches of low quality they are dangerous. I wouldn't be surprised if someone soon has an injury from the poor quality and poorly designed equipment being introduced to the gym over the past week or so. Now I am dealing with a sore lower back thanks to the bench having a crappy design! Please bring back the old benches before...
