I had no idea what it looked like in the day time, because I was just a passenger in my friend's car.

It was very dark at the car park. We walk out onto the jetty, and the wind was getting colder by the minute.

There were three other people at the jetty, in addition to our group of 8. This was my first time to accompany friends to go crabbing.

Fresh chicken meat was tied to the inside bottom of the crab cage. Using fresh meat as bait apparently was not as good as stale one. The cage was then lowered to the "bottom" of the floor.

I have never caught a fish in my life and I am still looking for breakthrough, but something amazing happened and I ended up catching a crab. They loved my bait and attacked it from all directions- again no fish for us. Guide to crab fishing:

Attach bait generously to the bottom of net with zip ties, chicken legs work but carcasses are better, best time is at high tide.

Tie hoop net securely to pier before throwing down. Watched someone lose a net neglecting this step.

Make sure the crab net string is long. The further you throw, the better crabs are.

Wait for 10 mins.

Pull up the net fast. Gloves recommended to prevent rope burn.
