Espy Bar and Eatery — Restaurant in Victoria

It's interesting how different 2 nights can be at the same restaurant. If you are looking at these reviews chronologicaly, you will see that last night I couldn't have been happier. Tonight however, different story. While ordering, I was talking to the waitstaff about how awesome it was last night, and that's the reason I am back again tonight. I asked the waitstaff to give my compliments to the chef, to which the response was " it's a different chef tonight". I think a truer statement has never been made. Different chef, and a totally different experience. Food was average and it looked ordinary on the plate (pictures of pork belly and vegetable lasagna included). Last night amazing. Tonight they looked like microwave meals. How do you recommend a place with so different and conflicting contrasts between chefs. I hope you get the good chef, because there are chasms between the 2. Maybe tonight was just a bad night. There were people waiting ages for meals pre-ordered, and lots of meals being delivered to tables at different times (there were 5 minutes difference for our 2 meals). Last night seemed busier, but better run. I dunno what to do here, all I guess I can do is wish you the best and hope you get the well above average chef, and not the microwave meal chef. I normally take photos of the dishes as I post for others reference, and this time I am disappointed I didn't. The reason however is obvious (to me at least). That is .. they looked sooooo good, I just couldn't wait to get stuck in. And then my mind was blown again. They actually tasted better than they looked, which has to be impossible. 30 minutes after finishing dinner I am still raving about how awesome my meal was. I don't give 5 stars often, but tonight they are well deserved. Entree was spring rolls. 4 generous size rolls on a bed of lettuce with sweet chilli sauce.(good, really good) Main was home made crispy chicken with honey and pepper sauce. (Pow, mind blown). Main was Chicken Tikka (Pow, mind blown again). Every meal looked and tasted exceptional. I hope you all (whoever take the time to read this review) get the same fabulous taste and experience I got... But do me a favour... It seems they've implemented a new type of customer service, as they provided all the glasses, bottles, and everything else for us to take to our table. However, the tables were not very clean, and the food was quite mediocre. The meatlovers pizza was mostly minced meat, and the chicken parma was burnt underneath. The only positive aspect was the cleaner lady who brought some of the food to us. However, as others have mentioned, the bartender was not...
