The ultimate guide to Big4 Launceston. When we got there we were told we had to get a powered site since we had a rooftop tent. This added to the costs, and we didn't even really need a powered site. We paid close to $50 for Location is both a blessing and a curse. It's close to town, but right next to a busy highway. We didn't manage to get a very good night's sleep being in a tent, and with car alarms going off in the middle of the night. For us, if we'd known how much the road and car alarms would be disturbing we wouldn't have stayed there. It wasn't close enough for anything to be within easy walking distance anyway. The sites themselves were small and had absolutely no privacy. Everyone was camped on top of each other and there was no shade. The bathrooms looked reasonable, but since the entire camp was sharing 4 showers (2 were out of order) they got dirty quickly. They also had an ant infestation, so don't leave anything on the ground, and wear shoes or thongs so you don't get bitten by bull ants. The kitchen wasn't anything special. It's exposed to the elements with a short roof so tall people beware! It's nowhere near the barbecues or the bins, so you'll have to carry your dirty stuff down the hill to the kitchen to wash them, or your rubbish up the hill to the bins. If you want to be close to the city but don't mind mediocre facilities and have money to waste, this is perfect. If you can afford to be slightly out of the...
Read moreFirst time staying here. The most friendly welcoming staff so far in our travels. Great service, from texting us saying the room is ready, from emails reminding us of the directions. Service here is number one. We stayed in one of the new rooms, they are undertaking a lot of refurbishment here. The rooms are very good and for my wife and I, we found we had plenty of room. There were bunk beds in here as well which we did not need which could make it a bit tight with four people here. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and the shower pressure was fantastic (it may sound a little silly but some places we have stayed the shower pressure “dribbles”) The property itself is nice, like I mentioned it is being upgraded and very evident all the new building and camping area. The only draw back we found is that there is a lot of traffic noise from the main road that is about a couple of hundred meters away. There is a play area for the kids, with jumping pillow. There is a horse paddock next door with a sign telling you the horses names and what you can feed them. Great host and you are made to feel very welcomed and the rooms, well they are brand new and...
Read moreThe location was great and as we were travelling in a group of motorhomes we relied on cabs or ubers to get us around. Being close to restaurants it didn't cost us a lot. Unfortunately the sites are not level and the receptionist wasn't willing to change her sites so our group could be together. She said they were booked out and therefore couldn't move other bookings to suit our needs even though we informed them of our request at the time of booking. They were not booked out and could have easily accommodated our request. We also watched a few people enter the park but couldn't get vans or tents level so they left after requesting flatter sites. The female amenities were not cleaned properly and was only wiped over without product and moped out leaving leaves and bitsvof toilet paper on floor. The ceiling was filthy. They have built new cubicles but without proper cleaning the showers have mould in grout and they never cleaned or painted the ceiling. So we can't give any better...
