We stayed at the caravan park that has stairs down to the falls for easy access.
There is some construction of some sort happening near the sandy area where the river continues to flow but it didnât impact us at all.
The sandy area was great for my little kids to safely play. It hadnât rained in a while so the water was less and not moving very fast nonetheless the sandy area was safe and I could easily keep a close eye on them.
Saw a young kid, definitely a local, climb onto the top of Malanda Falls and jump in, I was so nervous for him. You can see some other rocks along the sides and a big branch, which is all fine as long as you arenât jumping into them.

Swimming area is good for all abilities with shallows for the kids and deep water for the swimmers and jumping in. Might be closed in the wet season after heavy rain. The rainforest walking tracks are short but demonstrate the area's natural ecosystem and you'll see plenty of wildlife, such as turtles and bush turkey nests.    Read moreThe attached visitor centre is excellent. There is information about the local people and also a stuffed tree kangaroo. The volunteer on Friday 16th @ 1030 am was brilliant. The falls are 30 seconds from the car park. They have make the natural pools into an artificial looking swimming pool, I presume due to safety. Itâs very sad especially since this was cultural land. In April the pool is closed as they are redoing the whole concrete pool....
