The venue itself was great, but once you’re paid up and your function is over, the façade (by Gasworks) of a reputable organisation quickly dissolves. I hired one of their theatres for some auditions and was required to pay a $250 refundable bond. That’s fine. The function ran smoothly and without issue. There was absolutely nothing that could have impacted any concern about refunding the bond in full. Two days later, I wrote Gasworks an email, thanking them and awaiting the return of the bond. Happy to give it a couple of days. Having heard nothing from them for 4 days, they finally emailed saying that the bond would be refunded “shortly”. Great. That means the day after or, at the latest, the day after that. I heard nothing from them for the next 7 days, until sending them a strongly-worded email requesting my bond back. The following day – just a coincidence, of course – I’m informed that they’ve only now just processed the bond (some 12 days after the hire date), but that I would need to wait ANOTHER WHOLE WEEK before I was to receive my bond, despite it being a simple electronic transfer. What an absolute joke! Nice venue but the administration staff at Gasworks don’t give a stuff about you once you’ve used their venue. No communication. And when they do, they lie to you and tell you, “Sure, your money will be returned to you shortly” knowing it’s still weeks away before they can be bothered even thinking about returning YOUR money. What an outrage! Will never use the Gasworks facilities again and will encourage all other filmmakers in this state to steer well clear of...

A lovely art gallery cum park that also hosts theatre, I stumbled upon this place on a weekend. It was a good decision, since there was hardly any public around except for the staff, so it was a peaceful. The 2 galleries held a small but lovely collection of artworks by various local artists, most of which were up for sale as well.

A piano is placed in a lovely spot, which I liked quite a bit. And the gate to this place, is beautiful. There are some studios where sculpture and similar arts are taught, which were closed on Saturday. Great green park, with some people just hanging out, playing with their dogs.

It's a lovely place to visit. Also, there's...

I enquired with Gasworks Arts Park late last year regarding venue rental, to hopefully stage my work at some point this year. I never received a response, so I sent a follow up email which was never responded to. I ended up contacting them via Instagram to see if my email had been received, and I was told that I would receive an email from their venue coordinator, Jess, later that day. 15 days later, and still no response. I tried one last time and I was told that I would receive a response the following business day, which I never received. Producers, avoid Gasworks arts park for staging your work as you will likely be left in...

We usually attend the farmers market once a month. Great location for the market. During the summer it’s pristine but a bit harder to walk on the Otha in winter when it rains. Nice cafe with decent food options. Public toilet is a bit hard to find. Big park attached which is usually filled with dogs off the lead and dog training schools on weekends. Not a playground for kids worth mentioning. But all in all a good place to grab some local fresh veg

Very good I ate lunch here one day during school it was very nice. I rate the farmers market that comes along every month as the orange juice is fresh. It has some parking poles if you need to park your bike. As can be seen in the photo, the walls of many of the buildings are very solid brick walls so safety is clearly a priority here.
