This is a beautiful cafe, semi hidden in Gasworks Arts Park, that has great atmosphere, great coffee and great food. What is not to love about this place ! Oh, it is pet friendly too - so you can grab your pooch a treat while you are treating yourself.

I have so many good things to say that i don’t know where to start.

In true Melbourne fashion, let’s start with the coffee.

The barista, Sunshine, is everyone's favourite barrister, literally. It is not only her great coffee and really cool latte art (check out her Instagram) but also her love of coffee, her job and the customers that really makes it special. Head down and experience for yourself and you will see what i mean :)

The seasonal menu is a tasty, fresh and welcome change from the ‘flower & floss covered’ gimmicks that you often see. Today I opted for the Aussie favourite Avo Smash, with bacon of course ! It was delicious and full of the freshness and flavours that i love (i am not sure that the accompanying pictures do it justice)

But when i saw that the muffins were made in-house, i couldn’t resisting grabbing one of those as well. I opted for the raspberry over the pineapple/mango (but i should have got one of each). The flavours change regular (i loved the previous week’s passion fruit and white chocolate). Of course my eyes were bigger than my belly so i took this one to go.

Which brings me to one more thing that I really like; Gasworks Cafe is not only pet and human friendly, it is also environmentally friendly. The menu takes advantage of what is ‘in season’ and the take away packaging and cutlery are all...

My poor rating is on the surcharge for paying with card.

I cancelled my order and left.

Some will question me on turning my back in a small business for a thirty cent surcharge.

But really. They don’t charge extra on hot days for turning on the air conditioning or the heating on cold days.

I walked further away and purchased elsewhere on principle.

This business is lucky they know why they missed out on my business but I won’t be back as there is a lot of competition out there.

Bronwyn, if I had paid in cash you would have to bank it which costs you time, effort and security. None of your legitimate suppliers would take cash for the same reason. Less than 6% of restaurants charging for using a card so like I said I will not be back as 94% of businesses are viable without...

For the second year in a row we booked the Gasworks Cafe for a private event for our Trinity Groodles Christmas party for our puppy and dog owners AND it was FANTASTIC. BIG thanks to Franki at Gasworks for her professionalism and care that she took to provide us with a terrific range of foods while taking into consideration the dietary requirements of a number of our guests. The bar service ran super well and the venue was perfect for our purpose - giving our guests an area to chill and enjoy the presentation by our guest speaker while providing access to the dog friendly lawns where the dogs could run around and stretch their legs. Thankyou Franki, VJ and the staff who helped us with our event - truly appreciative and we look forward...

This place has so much potential and when I sat down I thought I was onto a winner... but I wasn't.... Its dog friendly, the location is lovely, the milkshake is nice. But: The waitress was useless - no idea what the items were on the menu, got the order wrong (one of us went hungry), and the food came out after a long wait even though the place wasn't busy. And no one ever even apologised! The food was ordinary. Jaffles - you get three half sandwiches (where did the other bit go???) and they are just made with supermarket bread. They arr bland. Disappointed. Fix the staff and improve the food and this place will be awesome.

Such a wonderful cafe for you & your doggy to experience! I haven’t been here in awhile but I would always come all my childhood here it was my favourite cafe! they always have had such kind customer service would even bring drawing paper & crayons out for the little kids, the breakfast food is really delicious & they even have cute pup cups with scrumptious doggy treats for your puppy to enjoy! there baby cinos are also quite nice for the kids I remember I went crazy as a child & ordered 10 of them from here! the staff were in shock, anyways definitely recommend checking them out especially if you have a dog! 🦴☕️🐕

Used to come here weekly and it was satisfactory at best, but today it hit my worst ever list. My overpriced milkshake tasted disgusting and powdery, size was a small cup (250ml) and barely cool not cold. I did complain but was brushed off. First straw had a hole in it and I couldn’t get a replacement straw. Shocking. 3 cheese toasty would have tasted better if they used Woolworths prepackaged homebrand sliced cheese. It was revolting. Bacon & egg roll resembled airline food at best. I will never return here, nor recommend it
