Our place to go in the Dandenongs Mountain. Husband goes here every Sunday for his morning walk. I go every now and then. An excellent place for fungi photography. Lyrebirds to listen too and if lucky get a photo, kangaroos are also there early in the morning in the top. And the Cafe and its food and owners are Delightful and food dishes yummy. Watch for the awesome decorations they place In the Cafe. The only thing that bother us are the nasty disgusting people that leave their rubbish after picnics. Seriously... Keep the park clean for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks Parks Victoria for planning ongoing amazing guided tours. We joined on a Sunday walk of 5-6K starting at Grants picnic grounds. Beautiful walks through the rainforests just 30-40km on the edge of Melbourne CBD. John - our volunteer guide was the most wonderful person, carrying us along the path, helping with information on the forest, flora and fauna. Saw many lyrebirds, learnt about the pines, ferns and wombats. Steep walk, but part of it is suitable for assisted climbers. Best 2.5 hrs spent.

A nice little picnic ground located in the Dandenong Ranges National Park, 41km east of Melbourne. It has short bush walks for families, bird feeding and picnic areas. The place can get quite busy on weekends and parking may be an issue. But still worth a visit. The birds are so used to bring hand fed they land in your shoulder or head. The walking tracks have nice eucalypts and ferns and are an easy walk relatively flat walks.
