Hedgeley Dene is one of the prettiest manicured public garden in the eastern suburbs. Built around 1924, this garden is very popular among the young and old. It is easy to walk around, very quiet and peaceful. A great place to relax and read a book on the bench, watch the ducks or picnic with friends and family on the lawn. The garden used to be so popular with couples wanting to capture the special wedding moments that the wedding parties edged out all other visitors on weekends. The local council has since banned wedding photography at Hedgeley Dene to allow peaceful...

An honestly breathtaking park, with an incredible little pond/lake, surrounded by sprawling, lush green lawns which are perfect for relaxing on or having a picnic.

Extremely photogenic and pretty bridges, beautiful flora with tall leafy trees. The park also continues down to Waverly road, which is nice for a walk to get some steps in.

The park is always immaculately well groomed, I've never seen the grass too tall or weeds encroaching.

Think about it this way - It's so beautiful here, that there's a sign forbidding weddings... Must be a common occurrence, but I can't...

Went there 4 a walk with a friend 4 our 1-hour of exercise during the lockdown period in Melbourne's pandemic period. We entered from the Malvern Rd end, crossing Ferncroft & then Glenbrook Avenues. We passed people of all ages. This place lives up 2 its name. It's a lovely garden with all kinds of plant life made interesting through colour & texture arrangements. We had the pleasure of seeing a duck family swimming about in the large pond & enjoyed a lovely waterfall. There were plenty of benches about. We exited via Kardella St which...

Looks much better in spring. Water cascade & winding paths & ample grassy open space. The reed ponds have yellow irises at this time of year. Under canopy of mighty oaks & weeping chinese elms are definitely the features. Kids can run free with no barriers or signs saying keep off. Dogs on leash allowed & poo bags stations at entry points. Toilets onsite. Nice enough for a wander & for kids to play/ cycle but probably needs more thought to the plantings. Too much of the feral acanthus mollis growing everywhere....

Hedgeley Dene Garden, located on Kardella Street and Glenbrook Avenue (off Wattletree Road) is one of Malvern's most attractive and popular gardens. The garden, amidst a number of beautiful homes, extends along what was once a watercourse alignment. In a classic English landscaping style, the garden has well established and maintained lawns, deciduous and evergreen trees and an ornamental lake. Hedgeley Dene Garden, is a perfect place to take time out and relax, great for kids and dogs are also welcome.

This park is stunning, full of beautiful heritage trees, lots of deciduous trees that give beautiful autumn colors and leaf fall which kids and dogs love to play in. The lake is lovely with much bird life (but feeding not permitted) as well as a waterfall and some pretty bridges. It spans 4 blocks and easily joins up with Central Park… another lovely area with some outstanding cafes and coffee shops to break the trip.
