The lake is the main feature of Karkarook park and is perfect for all sorts of recreational activity including fishing, bird watching, boating, canoeing, rowing, kayaking and sailing. A sealed 1.8 km trail circles the lake which is great for activities such as walking, jogging, bike riding and skating. There's a small boat launching ramp and two fishing jetties/pier platforms which are great for fishing as well as viewing, bird watching and photography. There are many different species of wildlife including the Superb Fairy-wren, the Blue-billed Duck, Musk Duck and Little Falcon and you're likely to also see coots, cormorants, egrets, herons, native ducks and swamp hens around the lake and in the adjacent wetlands. The lake is stocked frequently with freshwater fish species including Rainbow Trout or Red Fin and more recently, Murray Cod and Golden and Silver Perch. There's a small picnic area with a pavilion and several square open sided tables which are perfect for wheelchair users and the Dragonfly and She-oak picnic areas are close by a well as the car parks. All round it's a perfect recreational lake.

A nice Lake with plenty of wildlife for the family to see. There are lots of open spaces around the lake for picnics. The Karkarook Park hosts the Saturday morning Parkrun for the whole family to enjoy a run or walk. The park being sheltered with a good coverage of trees, it makes for a good place to paddleboard as well.

Another place that deserves a 5 out of 5 rating for me because of its Playground, comfort rooms, picnic area, fishing area and very scenic view. Also perfect for walking the dog, walking , jogging or simply escaping the hustle of the city and breath some fresh air.. Perfect for family and friends...

Great spot for families Good facilities - bbq's,children's playground, pavilions for lunch or shelter, public toilets, plenty of parking, incl disabled parking and of course the lake. Sailing, canoeing, rowing all happen here Plenty of birds including ducks, black swans, Galahs, White Cockatoo, small finches, magpies.
