There are a few lookout points in this area. We discovered one at Seawinds that seemed promising for a picnic.
There’s heaps of picnic spots, but not all have concrete slabs, tables and a BBQ. So areas that don’t, you’d need to bring along all picnic requirements. Ground cover is essential as there is a lot of kangaroo pooh around and one can’t sit directly on the lawns or walk around barefoot.
The views are very beautiful with the ducks moving all around . Heaps of trees for shading. The toilets can be quite far depending on which area you’re picnicking in. They are in good condition, but bring your own wet wipes / toilet paper incase .
I didn’t see any taps for extra water . So bring lots of bottled water. Bring cleaning agents for the BBq too as it seemed they weren’t cleaned from the previous users. This might be done the next morning before new users. Not sure.
One can’t drive up to the exact picnic spot either as there is fencing off. This is a huge hinderance when you have heaps of bbq and picnic things to carry. Exhausting after 3 or 4 trips back to the trailer.
I’m not sure what it’s like on a busy weekend day. There is parking, but if you get there late, you may have to park in the first parking lot and that’s then an even further slog with all the gear to your spot.
I’d recommend, but be prepared for...
Read moreBeautiful gardens, lots of amazing trees, plants and wildlife. Joeys were still in kangaroo's pouches, very peaceful. Beautiful views and quite good accessibility. Some small stairs but easy access around these along gravel path. Was busy but still able to find lots of pockets of quiet and stillness. It's a beautiful place to visit for anyone, especially those visiting or new to the area. Had a lovely sunny afternoon - the paths and attractions are really well marked. Spent a while watching the ducks near the lovely pond, and absolutely gorgeous twilight views over the ocean. Would highly recommend- there are toilets and a Cafe located back up the road near the gondola station, but I always prefer Wombat Cafe for vegan treats and excellent coffee to take up - much less busy and better priced (still expensive but much more worth it!). Can't...
Read moreI'm a huge fan of this place. I've been a few times here doing the Summit Circuit Walk but each time, I have to say I find a new area that I seemed to have missed the previous time round.
Quite a decent amount of shaded areas. Found this awesome looking tree and then followed the ducks nearby. Sat down at the bench overlooking the lake/water and a few ducks came to say hello and quack for some of our food.
There's also nice circular bench area to enjoy a sit down and relax which is in-line with the Bay Lookout that is decorated with some beautiful flowers.
From there you can follow the track around and either visit the playground/bbq area or head through the Indigenous Garden (or you could do both).
Great place to spend on a summer's day and I have to say the colours during Autumn is...
