Hubby and I have had our fair share of amazing, unique, memorable stays around the world (from the Sweden's Ice Hotel to Cappadocia's cave lodges to the water villas in Maldives to chateaus in France) - the list goes on but while all of them are memorable, they always felt like a one-night only experience, a feeling of not being "real", if that makes sense. But I will hands-down say that our 4-night stay at Arthur's Views has left an indelible mark on our hearts. And the reason is not just the gorgeous view from our large balcony but because the suite really felt like a home. The size, the layout, the decor, everything felt very real and comfortable, as if we were living there, not just guests. We daydreamed that this was our home during our time there!||We stayed at the Flinders Penthouse (in our opinion, the best as it is the topmost suite and the views we think are the best from here) and everything was perfect. This is truly a well-thought-out couples retreat, the welcome chocolates, the super plush robe (much needed even thought it was Feb and summer!), the cosy fireplace, the large living room featuring a sofa that reclines at the touch of a button, and the modern well-kitted kitchen (lovely to see not just the usual complimentary tea and coffees, but hot chocolate sachets and, milk in the fridge too).||When we walked in, we were blown away by the panoramic view of the bay, so much so that we decided to cancel all our dinner reservations in favour of simple charcuterie / cheese and other takeaways dinners (Red Gum BBQ was one such takeaway, and we got our groceries from Ritchies IGA nearby in Dromana). Plus we were wine-tripping, so it was great to enjoy the spoils while gazing at the views. We never tired of it, from morning till night! We kept our eyes out for the kangaroos who'd visit at dusk to graze on the gardens. ||This is also a great place to be "stuck" in on rainy days - it rained almost the whole day one day, we binged on Netflix and read and drank our wine :)||The bathroom is well-sized, Flinders Penthouse doesn't have a bathtub / spa but we didn't care about that, prioritising what we believed was the best view and location among the 5 suite options they have. ||Being located at the highest point in the peninsula, it was really spectacular and... cold! In fact, we evidenced hail on one of the cosy nights! Good thing for the robes and the fireplace! ||A note on the drive: The drive uphill to Arthur's Views is a little windy, and we were so lucky to have spotted an echidna near the road. As you reach closer, it becomes a narrow, dirt road so drive carefully, and at night, there are no lights outside (this is really in nature) so it is pitch dark. Something to consider when making bookings for dinner out, we would not be comfortable driving and parking into the allocated spaces outside the retreats, but that's just us. Plus it was all the more excuse to stay in and enjoy the gorgeous space as mentioned earlier!||Without a doubt, a place we would return to should we visit the...
Read moreI have struggled finding bed and breakfast accommodations that still feel like you are staying in a bit of luxury and I also have paid top dollar for 5 star accommodations that completely fail. Arthur's views rivals a lot of places i have stayed at both here in Australia and overseas in well known accommodation . I would say in regards to the attention to detail towards the rooms is one of the best. This is very hard to find as a lot of accommodation places cut corners. I really feel the love and energy put into this accommodation. Firstly, everything is very clean, modern and not done cheaply unlike plenty of accommodations in regards to decor and the build of the rooms. I love that the toilet is separate from the shower / spa area. The rooms have everything a guest could want . Slippers , robes, extra towels and more are catered for. Things you may not even think about are covered such as umbrellas , torch and even scissors! First time I've seen scissors and I needed it ! . The addition of toiletries, toothbrush and hand soap. Would you believe not many accommodations offer hand soap. The quite substantial drawer offers tea, coffee ,hot chocolate, biscuits, and more as well as other gadgets that you may need ! The kitchen space is great and the addition of the microwave and mini fridge was handy . The spa was very relaxing and the candles add to the ambience. Movies are covered via Netflix, stan . Didn't choose any food options that can be booked but I would love to stay at this place again. The bed is comfortable and so were the pillows. The view is incredible. I would say pack a few things and come as you are . The rooms have everything you could want in a couple getaway. ...
Read moreI agree with previous reviews which state that the accomodation and views are good but the host spoils it. I booked for 2 nights. On the second night 2 friends and their partners joined in separate rooms. Before my friends booked I checked with the host that she had no problem with me visiting my friends and vice versa. The host said it was fine however, upon checking out, she charged an extra for cleaning which she justified by claiming we had gathering which was not permitted which I already checked if me and my friends can meet in the same room or not and the host said ok! Because if not allowed we will booked somewhere else.Believe me when I say we left the room in a tidy state after an civilised game of cards with friends and we all went back to our own room before 10 pm!. When I called to discuss, the host said I was not welcome back because I had a gathering and the host doesn’t like it. Feels like a bit of a scam. Needless to say, my friends and I will be happy to avoid in the future. If you want to enjoy some nice views and then leave with a sour taste in the morning book here....
