Merewether Swimming Pool in NSW is an incredible spot for swimming and other recreational activities. With a long pool and two high-board dives, there is plenty of room to move around and enjoy the pool. The water is kept at a comfortable temperature, making it pleasant to swim even on hot days. You can also take advantage of the heated dive boards, which make the dives safe in colder temperatures. The landscaping around the pool is immaculate and gives a great sense of being immersed in nature. There are many trees, shrubs and flowers to look at and enjoy. The outdoor dining area is also great for taking a break and enjoying a meal. The facilities at Merewether Swimming Pool are top notch. The pool has trained lifeguards that ensure everyone’s safety. There are also showers, toilets and change rooms plus a kiosk. These features make the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Merewether Swimming Pool is an amazing pool with lots of great features such as the heated dive board and its beautiful landscaping. For a great day out, or simply a good swim, Merewether Swimming Pool should definitely be considered.

Merewether Ocean Baths have neatly solved the issue of lappies taking more than their fair share of public pools. Instead of letting them swim lengths of the biggest ocean pool in the Southern Hemisphere they make then swim 50 metres across the pool between concrete blocks down one end. This leaves the bulk of this 100 metre ocean pool for recreational swimmers to swim in any direction they want. It’s also fully accessible with no steps between reserved accessible parking and the ramps into both the large pool and the wading pool (which is also a hundred metres long) with a soft sand entry on one side. With hand gliders cruising overhead, and waves crashing on three sides this is a beautiful pair of pools with plenty of amenity: concrete and wood benches spaced along the whole site, clean change rooms, outdoor showers, free off-street parking and lifeguards dispensing water-going wheelchairs to those who need them.

There is a strong cross current running parallel with the shoreline which was strong enough to stop me from moving forward while swimming and poses a drowning risk for poor swimmers who are unaware of the exertion that is nessasary to swim and may panic or tire and lose the ability to fight the current.

There is alot of debris and particles of unknown sources suspended in the pool and the sides are so slippery it is nearly impossible to escape the water and is also a factor contributing to the danger of drowning whilst swimming in the large ocean bath.

Dogs are not welcome and there were no visible lifeguard supervision. The single lifeguard I witnessed was absorbed in the task of opening and servicing of a pump system attached to the Northern side of the bath inside a white concrete dome.

Ridiculous amount of steep and scary stairs required for access to the carpark which is located some 10 storeys higher than the entry height...
