We were up in Newcastle, specially Merewether for the weekend to check out the WSL surf comp. We were recommended to try out Convoy Commune for a coffee and took a short walk from our hotel and found this not far from the beach.

In the beachside suburb, the decor fits perfectly with its beachy vibes and byron bay esque aesthetic. With its bright interior, natural timber finishes, rattan pendant lights and rattan mirror. I loved the look and was surprised to hear that the cafe is currently undergoing renovations as it looked pretty schmick already. Will be interesting to see what they do design wise.

The cafe also had a retail space stocking the Huskee Cup, Good X Karma products as well as MAYDE tea and True Protein powders. You can grab any of this to go for yourselves or a gift.

We were there for a coffee, which they make with Convoy Commune’s own signature blend using a blend of specialty beans from Brazil, Costa Rica and Ethiopia. An interesting flavour of malt and chocolate. We enjoyed the coffee.

We didn’t have food on our visit but they have a range of fresh and healthy dishes including aƧai bowls, sandwiches, bacon and egg rolls, a rotating salad choice from the window and some mighty fine sounding smoothies.

The cafe was extraordinarily busy given the surf event in addition to the neighbourhood locals and runners, but we appreciated being informed of wait time and they did super well in getting things out promptly.

We look forward to seeing their renovations and visiting next time we’re...

Everything was good, but not the staff. I got racism in there, and i have dm their IG to at least get their respond but none.

I went there 2 times, loving the place and coffee. But then, the waitress was a bit rude on my 2ns visit with my chinese friend.

They were talking so loud, and when i leave and said thank you to them. They literally just STARE at me and my other friend. Straight after that, there is another caucasian people that say the same and the waitress great them nicely.

Like why would you do that? Even when i came in with my friend, this one girl did not even really treat us nicely and different to the other customer.

I wil leave bad reviews here bcs been waiting their respond since january 2024 and got none. I should just make video about that place and show my asian followers that your cafe is...

The coffee is among the best I have had. The food is simple but really nicely prepared. The place has a pleasant look and decor. However, the place needs a bit more cleaning especially the bathroom but they have nice toiletries.

We enjoyed the food and the coffee and the mini Oreo is a plus but the service is not very friendly/welcoming. I came in and got a table and nobody came to greet etc… my kids actually got up to...
