Went on the weekend with my partner. We spent two hours in there sitting on different chairs for different perspectives. The best was right in the middle we felt swallowed by a magical field being able to watch the wind dance through the lights.
I grew up in this area and spent a lot of my childhood exploring around the river and around the lock. Iāve never seen it have life threaded through there as I did with the cafe and new install. Mildura truly continues to grow and surprise me even if growing up here was difficult I find new ways to love it.
I see a lot of people saying it was boring as itās the same thing the whole way through, that crossed my mind, it may not be for everyone but itās a truly beautiful roll out and effort. Subtle and whimsical.
We are oversaturated with intensity as a means for attention to be demanded but I enjoy the that the space gently invites us to slow down, be introspective and I donāt think we would of got as much out of it had we quickly walked a lap.
It would be nice to have a gentle ambient soundscape through there but thatās just me as a music lover.
While I acknowledge the conversations around ticket pricing itās sad to see something thatās reinvigorating a forgotten space to hold life, play and togetherness.
I canāt remember the last time Iāve seen so many people down there, decades. Yet another pocket of Mildura opens up and activates. If you want something free or cheap for the kids go to Woodsies gem shop for $2 maze time. Lots of sparkly things to look at also. The lights here are beautifully unique and to see a landscape I grew up with and adore to be transformed into a jellyfish meadow is magical.
Go later in the night if you want a quieter experience.
Any new space will have its teething period. I trust that the right people are listening and look forward to ticket prices being revised for further...

Installed by volunteers. Pretty at first you realise there is no focal point or sense of story to the artiste Bruce Munro's catastrophic money grab. He should have not been paid the exhorbitant fee for this below par event. So what do you actually see? Cross the bridge to the island some lovely fairy lights from Darwin 2019 light show follow the trail and turn a gentle corner itās all one and the same, no narrative no swaying in time to music no change in coloured lights, turn another corner and you come across a few coloured lit up fishing poles, once again reused from Darwinās 2019 trail of lights! Bar the extortionist entry fee the whole exhibit is a non event! Dont waste your money š° go to the pub instead⦠thankfully the organiser Peter Alexander has resigned! If not pushed, just because you have a business degree doesnt mean you are a saviour for tourism. Accountants cant run...
