Well worth a visit to understand the local history and families who set-up establishments. How they lived in the 1800-1900’s. Good photos Wooden shark protection swimming fence. Not a large museum and free entry. They do have a donation jar and second building has local items for sale. Got a few cards with local images on them. Staff member Sue was very knowledgeable lived on the Island for over 20years.

Great to see volunteers running a place where you can visit for free. Had a few different types of crafts for sale and a display of the area during the early days with historic photos and displays

Interesting place. We could know a little bit more from the island.

My husband and I spent two hours browsing the museum and chatting with the curator on duty that day. What a thorough and we'll catalogued collection of Magnetic Island history. My husband is a Townsville local and shared stories of his childhood and his children's holidays on the island with the curator. The two guys were well remembered from his early holidays on Maggie. The craft collection in the old school house is...

A nice little museum in the renovated old house owned by the first European family to settle on the island, run by very friendly and welcoming volunteers. There’s a room dedicated to the family’s history, and the very extensive records room where you can research the family’s history histories of the island, as well as the main room which changes...
