Boxing day every year we went there for our a picnic with another family where we had a great barbecue and scrummy salads. Christmas cake and neenish tart's are two of the desserts I recall. Then we played beach cricket.

Visiting the beach yesterday it looked like it hadn't changed in the last 30 years or 40 years since I'd last been there.

In my mind I can still see the thrilling games of beach cricket being played. From spectacular saves, to awesome bowling with even a few mulligrubbers were seen to wobble the beach wicket. Howzat was frequently heard during the day.

If you're going to go, take the ferry don't drive, there's not enough parking space over at Jibbon beach. People who drive only annoy the people who live there. Driving is so much longer and so much further and so far out of the way, you would be better served to take the Bundeena ferry from Cronulla wharf. If you are interested in aboriginal drawings walk to the other end of the beach, follow the well-worn beach tracks and you will come to some amazing rock carvings from a long time ago. Rumour has it, rumour has it that there is a nudist beach as well a bit...

Jibbon beach is a beautiful place, between Bundeena and the Royal National Park. Many tracks to the Royal National Park depart from the North side of Jibbon beach. This is a very quiet place, wild, with pristine water, the perfect entry to the Royal National Park. Worthy to walk to the North side until the rocks and then enjoy the views on the bay and Botany Bay. The entry is not clearly signaled.... Be careful, very limited car park...

This is my absolute favourite beach in all of Sydney. In the background you have the trees of Royal National Park. The beach clean and never crowded. It's a pristine and calm place to switch off your brain and lift your spirits.

If you want a little adventure, I recommend the ca. 30 min to 1h loop track starting at the south end of the beach passing through the rocky, pretty Shelley Beach, going back...

A nice beach to go to for the day. Don’t think there are any lifeguards but the waves and water seemed relatively calm. Parking is the biggest issue as most people rely on street parking, which is limited. You’ll see people parking up on kerbs etc, it is kinda just what you need to do 🤷‍♀️ There is a nice hike that loops from the beach, which isn’t too long or difficult!

A beautiful discreet part of the National Park, pity there are no public toilets. A tip , get there early to find parking nearby otherwise there quite a walk. Take care as rangers love to fine you for parking illegally here. The pictures don't do it justice. Great walking tracks for the hiking enthusiasts.
