⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Like Attenborough on Red Bull – A Nature Tour You'll Never Recover From (In the Best Way)
Listen. LISTEN. If you have even one curious cell in your body, book Janina’s Nature Tour at 1770 Liquid Adventures immediately. I don’t care if you’re already in Iceland. Swim.
Where do I even begin? We paddled out on the calm, glistening waters of Seventeen Seventy, a place so beautiful it looks like Mother Nature's screensaver folder. Then Janina, this absolute nature wizard in a kayak, started casually summoning creatures like some kind of aquatic Dr. Dolittle with a marine biology degree and a sixth sense for weird sea blobs.
One minute we’re gliding peacefully past mangroves, the next she’s yelling, “LOOK AT THIS ABSURD CREATURE” and thrusting a sea cucumber at us with glee. It sprayed sticky white goo at me in excitement. Janina is part guide, part David Attenborough, part stand-up comedian. I laughed. I learned. I accidentally peed a little bit that’s okay it’s in a kayak.
We met animals I didn't even know existed—things that looked like rejected Pokémon designs and squishy aliens. She explained their entire backstories like she’s been their therapist for years. At one point I was cooing over a worm. A WORM. I’m a changed person.
Bonus: Janina took photos the whole time like some stealthy nature paparazzo. I now have epic action shots of myself communing with a mudskipper like a sea-priestess, while my phone stayed dry and safe and emotionally unburdened.
Final verdict: 12/10, would paddle into the unknown with Janina again. This tour was educational chaos, salty serenity, and squishy sea creature magic all rolled into one. Book it. Bring snacks. Prepare to be amazed by nature in my favourite area on the planet -...
Read moreWe just did the morning family kayak tour with Janina (I hope I spelt that correctly!). 2 adults and 2 kids aged 6 and 9.
She gave us some excellent and thorough kayak instructions which were so helpful when out on the water.
Janina is just so full of knowledge and we chatted along the way as she took us across the marina to feed the fish, along the mangroves (she found us a hermit crab to check out) and out to the sand bank. We saw plenty of marine bird species and a stingray in the water from the sand bank.
Would absolutely recommend this tour if you're staying in 1770 or Agnes Water. We would've loved to have done the sunset tour, but due to the length of it (distance and time) kids the ages of ours can't come along, which is understandable. Just have to come back another time to do it ;)
Overall a great experience! Thanks...
Read moreWe did the sunset kayak tour and just .. WOW! This was one of the best tours we’ve done since landing in Australia. Simon was so knowledgeable about the area of 1770 and its marine life. Answered questions we’ve been wondering about Captain Cook and why the town is called 1770 also!
We saw 3 types of dolphins swimming metres away from us and unbelievably saw whales breaching in the distance - SO AWESOME. You also sea loads of rays in the water and Simon even said you sometimes see turtles!
The two person kayaks are actually so much better than when I’ve done it solo as it does get tiring and you cover a lot more distance with a two man - IT’S THE WAY TO GO.
Simon’s home made biscuits and popcorn during sunset was the icing...
