The Landsborough Museum is the business entity of the Landsborough District Historical Society, which was formed in 1973.
"Our mission is to collect, research, conserve, interpret and exhibit the artifacts, memorabilia, documents, photographs and stories of indigenous and non-indigenous peoples whose heritage can be linked to that region, known in the year 2000, as Caloundra City."
The Society has a management committee comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer who ensure the running of the Museum.
The Museum is housed in what was the original Landsborough Shire Council Chambers, which were designed in 1924 by renowned architect Walter Carey Voller and built from local timbers supplied by A E Round.
In 1988 using funding from the Bi-centenary, the old building was revamped and a new building of mud brick construction was added. The complex was reopened on Australia Day in 1988 by J L Beausang, the last chairman of Landsborough Shire and first mayor of Caloundra City.
At a Heritage Council meeting on the 25 June 1999, it was resolved to enter the "former Landsborough Shire Council Chambers" into the Queensand Heritage Register.
The Museum is open Wednesday to Friday and Sundays from 9.00am to 3.00pm
A quick visit to the Museum can take up to one hour but with so much to see several hours can be spent
browsing the collection of farm machinery, domestic life in the last century, the local historic tobacco and farming communities, and many other items of interest from the one-legged shovel to the Caloundra

Happened to be the Museum's Open Weekend, so we had a tour guide show us around and it was great to get more insight into the exhibitions. We (the grown ups!) thoroughly enjoyed the interactive olden-day dress up display which would be fantastic for people visiting with children.
The Museum has a fantastic range of content that gives an incredible insight into what life was like in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland at that time. Really sparked an interest to explore more attractions similar in the area to connect the dots and learn more.
Appreciate the volunteers whose passion and interest keeps spots like the Landsborough...
Read moreSaw an advertisement about the Landsborough Museum, so we thought to pay it a visit. It's worth stopping for a look and finding out the interesting history of this whole region. The displays are well organised - and especially all the activities around logging timber in the past explained. The tools used amazing. Very well done - the Council can be proud of this treasure about the past. Very educational for children. It's definitely worth a stop to check it out! Thank you to the staff who did the...
