Peter Depena Reserve is located in Russell Avenue, Dolls Point, a small suburb near Sans Souci. It is an ideal family park with free electric BBQs, picnic shelters and park seating. There are plenty of large trees, which provide shade during hot summer months and also a great playground for kids of all ages. Large grassy open spaces make the reserve perfect for playing ball, cricket or for children to fly their kites. For those wishing to go bike riding, skateboarding or scooting, a great bike track runs along the reserve, right near the beach that extends for several kilometres and leads to Cook Park. The beach next to the reserve has beautiful white sand, but the sea can get choppy. You will often see kitesurfers testing their skills as they combine wakeboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, and gymnastics into one extreme sport. A week ago my son and my wife somehow forgot kids bicycle in a park. We realised that few days later, trying to find a bicycle in our house, car and backyard. Couldn't find it. With almost no hope, I went to the park to see if the bicycle is still there, but I couldn't find it. Thought someone took it home! Then I saw Steven Kotevski, a brilliant guy from Bayside council who is patrolling and taking care of depena reserve, who is very friendly and always helpful to everyone. Just in case, I asked him did he see a blue kids bicycle the other day. He looked at me, smiled and said 'I might did'. At that moment I new he found it. He unlocked one of the rooms where they are holding some tools and brought a bicycle to me. I was over the moon! And you should have seen how happy my son was! This wonderful little spot consists of a wonderful park and a walking pathway that takes you alongside the water all the way to Ramsgate beach and beyond. There’s great spots where you can fish and where you can take a swim. You can often see people kitesurfing in the water. The view over the water is stunning, especially on a sunny day. There’s very good toilet facilities and there’s a cafe where you can get a drink or something to eat. There’s good seating facilities in the park where you can have a picnic and the parking is very good and convenient and it’s also free. There’s plenty of large grassy areas in the park ideal for tossing around the ball and maybe having a picnic. There’s a good children’s playground and seating area along with electric BBQ facilities.
