Livvi's Place is the kiosk café situated next to the children's playground at Timbrell Park near the corner of Henley Marine drive and Ingham Avenue, Five Dock. I have given Livvi's 5 stars because it is like an oasis for all who pass by: locals who just drop in for a great coffee or who are on their daily exercise routines, Dog Walkers, tradespeople, business people, parents grabbing a coffee to sip while their children play in the excellent enclosed playground about 5 metres away and lawnmowing contractors like me. -A Good toilet facility is there too. wheelchair access mobility parking next to Livvi's Timbrell Park itself, which is accessible to all, is expansive, well kept and level. And the staff are first class too. Nothing like being greeted with a smiling barista, usually Joe, ready to make your coffee and/or snack while you lean on the counter and view the park scene or engage in the latest topic of...
Read moreAs a wheelchair-using parent I wanted to love this, but poor sight lines, lack of seating to watch kids from, a still-broken 'award winning inclusive roundabout' and still significant areas inaccessible to wheelchair users made this a sadly underwhelming and somewhat stressful experience for me, as much as my 4 year old sensory seeking boy loved it.
There were no long or wide disabled bays on the on-road parking, except perhaps for a no parking area seemingly reserved for the ice cream van, kind of ironic considering the purpose of the space. Additionally the far side of the road lacked drop kerbs, forcing families to cross at the apex of a semi-blind curve. The gate nearest the road was also broken and the area between the two sandpits was covered in wet sand and puddled water, reducing grip and safety for wheelchairs and...
Read moreThis fenced playground has loads of different things to do, as well as a cafe and toilets. Sandpits, climbing rope pyramid, slides, swings, spinners, scooter/trike path with road signs and 'shop'. A variety of music toys: jumping accordion tyres, stepping note buttons, and two xylophones. There's also a BookExchange box and reading chairs. There's also a bubbler, BBQs and tables under a metal structure, and assorted picnic benches and tables, as well as plenty of shade cloth and tree shade. The flying fox and powered carousel work maybe half the time but are big attractions when they do. My five and two year olds can spend hours here. For extra fun, bring a kite - there is usually a bit of wind off the bay, and Timbrell Park is a great place to fly kites (when it's not full of weekend...
