Went here last night after being referred by a friend, however experienced the most discriminatory treatment.
We had called up in the morning that day to make a booking, and left a voicemail, however was never contacted back to confirm – when we turned up (assuming that our booking had been made) they told us they had no record of a call from our number. My husband showed the outgoing call on his phone and they said "well we didn't receive it so there's no space for you". We asked if there was a spare table for 2 available, even if just for an hour and were begrudgingly ushered to the front of the restaurant to sit directly opposite the door, at allegedly the only available table without a reservation.
Not even 2 minutes after we sat down, another couple walked through the doors and called out if they had a table for 2 without a reservation (being right by the entrance I was in earshot of everything) and I was shocked at what preceded: The waitress took them over to a table nestled in a quiet part of the restaurant and swiftly removed a "reserved" sign from the table. This same couple was served both entrees and mains before we even received our entree.
For the entire duration of our time at Filicudi I could see 4 tables that were empty, and gradually watched them remain empty until we paid for our meals and left.
The food itself was good however after this experience I can confidently say I will never be...
Read moreThis restaurant serves as a stunning epitome of a genuine Italian culinary experience, offering both authentic cuisine and a hospitable ambiance.
Food: The pizza here is nothing short of phenomenal. A crisply thin base devoid of sogginess supports an array of perfectly balanced toppings, easily making it one of the finest pizzas in the area.
Service: The staff exude genuine warmth, ensuring that each customer feels like a welcomed guest rather than just another patron. Despite this, I must give a mixed review regarding one aspect of the service.
Atmosphere: The venue exudes an intimate and authentic Italian charm, creating an environment where comfort comes naturally.
Now, onto my sole critique: the menu. Currently, folded pizzas are listed under the same section as traditional pizzas, without any annotation to indicate this difference. As someone who doesn't speak Italian, this led to an unintentional order on my part. I recommend that the restaurant delineate folded pizzas in a separate section to avoid similar mix-ups for future guests.
Aside from this minor issue, the restaurant shines in all other facets. I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone seeking an outstanding Italian...
Read moreWorst Dining Experience of My Life - Unacceptable and Possibly Discriminatory I am writing this review to warn others about the appalling treatment we received at this restaurant. This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience my family has ever had.
Upon entering, we were shocked to see the restaurant was nearly half-empty, with only one table visibly marked as reserved. Despite this, the individual who appeared to be the owner told us there would be an hour-long wait. It was immediately clear that he was deliberately trying to turn us away. He did not seem to want to seat us from the moment we walked through the door.
We left feeling harassed and humiliated. Whether this treatment was due to the fact that we had children with us, or because we are Asian, I do not know—but the feeling of being singled out was unmistakable.
This establishment not only ruined our evening but also left such a bitter taste that my family has decided we never want to go to an Italian restaurant again. The level of unprofessionalism and disrespect here is truly shocking. Do not waste your...
