Rouse Hill Regional Park is a hidden gem in the Hills District, offering a perfect escape into nature without having to travel too far from the city. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing picnic, a fun day out with the kids, or a scenic spot for exercise, this park has something for everyone.
Pros:
✔ Great Picnic Facilities – Plenty of picnic tables, shelters, and free barbecues, making it a fantastic spot for gatherings. Larger groups can book pavilions. ✔ Kid-Friendly Playground – The adventure playground has swings, climbing frames, and a fun maze that keeps children entertained. ✔ Walking & Cycling Trails – Well-maintained paths make it ideal for jogging, walking, or a casual bike ride. ✔ Dog-Friendly – You can bring your furry friends (on a leash), making it a great place for dog owners. ✔ Quiet & Spacious – Unlike some busier parks, it usually doesn’t feel overcrowded, even on weekends.
Cons:
✘ Limited Parking on Busy Days – During weekends and holidays, finding a spot can be tricky. ✘ No Café or Kiosk – Make sure to bring your own food and drinks, as there aren’t any shops within the park. ✘ Few Toilets – There are restrooms, but they’re spaced out, so you might have to walk a bit to find one.

Read moreHad a great day picnic-ing with family today. Great open spaces, paths for riding bikes, toilet facilities and ample parking. Shady areas and play equipment too are great. The only complaint I have is the amount of people walking their dogs off leash. My cousin also had her dog with us today, however he was secured on a lead. People need to be aware of their animals and not let them run off. I had my 6 month old son laying on the blanket and was constantly on edge every time a dog came past. One couple came past twice with their dogs and neither time did anything to stop their dogs tramping over our belongings. Not the park's fault but people need to have some...
Read moreGreat place to bring the kids. Lots of bike tracks mostly off road but not too difficult. Suitable ride for kids just coming off training wheels. The outdoor park is okay yet needs some additional TLC to be great. They've removed the flying fox which was a bit disappointing for the kids. The BBQ areas are good yet its recommended that you book if you choose to go on weekend or public holiday. There's public toilets down the bottom of the park which are a little dirty but what you'd probably expect from a regional park. Overall we enjoy creating Ming here every fortnight or so for a ride and picnic. Safe place for the kids to ride away...
