Rushcutters Bay Park is a gorgeous inner-city park, with well maintained gardens and footpaths (on the City of Sydney side, at least). Ample trees provide a lot of shade for the visitors, and is welcoming of four-legged friends too. It has off-leash hours too, but keep in mind that these differ on either side of the creek. There is a five-court tennis centre, a large cricket / AFL oval (Reg Bartley Oval), a children's playground and a larger, more informal field. There are also two cafes; the one on the City of Sydney side is also kiosk for the tennis centre. They serve a mean brunch on a beautiful terrace area, which you can hire as a venue for parties etc.
The foreshore walk is lovely all along the bay, but it unfortunately stops rather suddenly at the yacht club, meaning you have to walk on the narrow side-walk next to the street for 100m if you want to access Yarranbbe park and continue walking along the foreshore.
There have been some proposals for a skate park to be installed on the edge of the park nearest to New South Head Road. This would be a shame, as it would dramatically change the peaceful environment of the park, and the racket and sounds of skateboards and basketballs would not be pleasant to sit or be anywhere near, dramatically decreasing the amount of leisure space for everyone else who uses the park. Let's hope common sense wins, and the park remains a community...

The view over the harbour and the Yacht Club is fantastic. It was very overcast today but it was still amazing to take a walk. On a clear day, it is spectacular. We have been to this park several times and have loved it every time. There is a fenced playground but it’s mainly aimed towards children under 5 years old. There’s also toilet facilities near the kiosk, including an accessible toilet 🚻. There’s actually two cafes to choose from at the park. It’s a wonderful place to come to if you want to relax. The parking 🅿️ is street parking, which can easily go fast, especially being next to the yacht club. The street parking is also time limited. There’s also tennis courts and the sports ⚽️ oval, cricket nets and an outdoor exercise equipment area. Dogs are allowed off leash from 3.30pm until 10.30am, but are prohibited in the oval (Reg Bartley Oval) and the children’s playground. Would definitely recommend....
Read moreNice park with a beautiful view of Rushcutters Bay. It seems to be popular on weekends and evenings, with people walking/jogging, picnicking, and doing yoga. There’s a large turf area, a small playground, and an outdoor gym with a surprising variety of different exercises. There’s also ample seating to sit and enjoy the view. FYI, it is an off-leash dog area (except between the hours of 10:30am-3:30pm), in case you’re not a fan of the four legged.
Docking one point bc the dogs tend to run wild at this park and their owners can be somewhat irresponsible, not picking up after their pets and letting them harass other people/animals. Also, the western side of the park can smell a bit raunchy due to...
