This was a great experience! A modern and saucy take on Pirates of Penzance performed by five multi-talented actors, most of whom had excellent voices. Never a dull moment with audience participation. Their musical ability was astonishing. We laughed and clapped the whole way through. The sixth visible person was in charge of audio effects and perhaps lighting! But three cheers for him too. We shall return for more light hearted entertainment. Thank you! BTW a bar offered reasonably priced drinks which you could take into the performance. Excellent!👍👏

Small live theatre in the heart of cosmopolitan Potts Point. Seats about 120 only, but the views of the stage are great. A bar is available for pre show drinks, and at interval, and a wide balcony overlooking Greenknowe Ave. Very pleasant indeed. Easy access via train to Kings Cross and a 8min stroll, or catch the 310 bus from Wynyard to Greenknowe Ave. This particular night, we had the pleasure to see Dale Burridge's At The Crossroads, a very entertaining bio of his career through music.

Intimate theatre offers better views and interaction with performers We caught Cry-Baby at Hayes Theatre. The show was great. The cosy theatre contributed to that as it offers good views even from the seats at the back. The size also meant that shows are more likely to be designed such that performers interact with the audience. There’s a Bar offering drinks and snacks. A laid-back venue but a great experience!

I have often thought that it is a great shame that reviews are written at the beginning of a run. Having seen Next to Normal in New York I was excited to see that it was coming to Sydney but the reviews were tepid, in the end I went to see it with a large group of seasoned theatregoers and we were impressed and moved. The cast was excellent, not only Natalie O'Donnell who gave a gut wrenching performance but also the other cast members. Yes sometimes the high notes weren't quite there and the American accents were not always consistent but that is small stuff, compared to the strength of acting, emotion and movement. It's wonderful to see a musical that really has something to say, where the songs integrate so well into the storyline and connect with the audience. Congratulations to the Hayes on another great experience in...

Fabulous vibe to this smaller Theatre. I saw "In The Heights" - not having been to a musical in years - and was blown away by the talent of the performance !! The actors - singing, dancing + the Live Band ( tucked away behind sliding scenery ) were uniform in timing, dynamics and subtlety. Got the feeling everyone in the show absolutely loved doing it - and that sheer joy rubbed off on the audience with beeming smiles as we walked out. Great stuff. - The theatre itself is smallish , but I forgot that when watching the show. The sound system is excellent also. The whole place is put together by love and enthusiasm for musical theatre - and that is shown by its supporters and participants in the of running it. If you find a show that appeals to you - go along - it will...

My first time at Hayes Theatre Co today was my first musical experience in Sydney and I had a wonderful time! I came to see Promises, Promises directed by Dean Drieberg- part of their "Neglected Musicals" series. Oh my gosh it was INCREDIBLE. I cannot believe these actors only had one day of rehearsal. The direction, choreography and music direction were superb. The actors were phenomenal! I was so impressed by this production...again...after ONE DAY OF REHEARSAL! It was so fun to watch actors with script in hand, giving their all. I forgot they were even holding scripts at one point. A stellar production and the best way to spend a...
