Edit: Since I made this review, we’ve continued to eat here fairly regularly. We still love the food and the issues below have been ironed out. We have only had excellent service whenever we visited, so I’ve changed my rating to 5 stars. I love the food at Shuk. It’s delicious. Unfortunately the staff aren’t always great. Twice now I haven’t received what I ordered and both times, the same waitress has told me, quite rudely, that it was what I ordered. First time, I asked for salmon as a side and it didn’t come. When I said, “I think I ordered salmon with this”, she said “No you didn’t.” Well, the people I was with, heard me order it. Today, I asked for chips on the side and she said it came with chips. I said they we’d like extra chips. Instead, we only got one chips and they were sweet potato chips - which isn’t what I ordered. I explained it all to the waitress and she disappeared and came back with the till receipt showing SP chips. I told her I didn’t ask for SP chips and she just pointed to the receipt. I was very nice and polite (my son’s a waiter so I know to always be nice) but explained again that it wasn’t what I ordered - even if that is what was entered into the till by the waitress. But I said, it’s ok, we’ll keep the SP chips, but where is the other serving of chips we ordered. She just looked at me blankly. So we ordered them again and they didn’t come. We gave up and left. If the food wasn’t so good, I wouldn’t go back. Please Shuk, your staff need to be trained better and that one particular waitress needs to learn better customer service. She shouldn’t be...

Nice spacious cafe with good food but very disappointing service standard.

We arrived with nobody to greet us. The guy at the front coffee bar took a look at us but never acknowledged or said anything. We waited for awhile and come a waitress. No greeting either and no smile.

Shuk was half full. When we were ready to order I tried to wave to another waitress who was walking passed our table. She completely ignored me and not looking our way with a sour face. I tried a third waitress and finally a smile and who was happier working there than the previous two.

The coffee was quite ordinary so quite disappointing to me, but it was served quickly. The food was slow, we waited for about 40 minutes. The Kofta Beef with Salatim looked beautifully fresh. All the bits and pieces were very tasty, fresh and full of flavours with the exception of the roasted tomato, it needed more roasting time and not much flavours. The hummus was excellent but the beef kofta was too salty and overcooked, flavour was just ok. The flatbread although soft but disappointingly tasted quite bland.

The scrambled eggs was also very tasty and the falafel was outstanding! Definitely our favourite item. But again, the Turkish bread was soft but bland tasting.

All in all we like the food but very disappointed with the lousy service. The staff definitely need to be better trained and for the very least, be friendlier and more attentive. Perhaps we would give it another go to see if there’s any improvement in their service.

Shuck is a new breakfast/ lunch restaurant in Elizabeth Bay we wanted to try it out. I live locally, therefore eat out on a regular basis. Today we waited for 45 min to be seated for a table of 4. I understand we were at a busy time, the male staff member who was taking names, trying to manage the seating really had a bad attitude! quite frankly rude. We had to check on numerous times on how much longer for a table, there is nothing worse than seeing people getting seated before you with no explanation. I would have thought a phone number should have been taken , a realistic time given to wait for a table of 4 . The wait staff were very nice and food + coffee service very good. Only one comment when offering a side of avocado for $4.50 let the client know it is avocado smash. Would we return to Shuck,...

Great little spot tucked away in Elizabeth Bay. Not somewhere you'd naturally stumble upon, but worth seeking out. Quite a good selection of quality dishes at reasonable prices. Good wine list too, was happy with the selections all round.🍷The hummus could have been punchier but the felafels were nice and crispy served with a delicious sauce, the Barramundi full of flavour 🐟 and the roast chicken quite succulent 🐔 Service was really great as well, friendly and responsive. We will go back, for sure 👍

Gladly they open on easter, me & husband just been there after Easter mass. Like the food. It's my first time having the Israeli style breakfast, its worth the price, exclude the surcharge, but it was ok, acceptable. Cilbir bagel is very delightful too. The staff is lovely, with lots of patience serving the olders. Keep it going. Only downside is the road closure, sort of construction site.
