Let’s start with the venue, which is, hands down, one of the most stunning places on the planet. The views are so breathtaking, you might even forget to eat—except, of course, you’re at a restaurant, so you have to. We got lucky with perfect weather (no rain this time!), which made it all the more magical. Now, about the food... Well, let’s just say it was a bit of a rollercoaster ride. We kicked things off with the zucchini flowers for $9, and while it didn’t look like much, they were an unexpected delight. The flavors packed a punch, proving that sometimes, small things do come in deliciously surprising packages. They were like the charming, quirky character in a movie—you don’t expect much, but they steal the show. Then came the Lamb Ragu pasta for $36. It was like a plot twist no one saw coming, except it was the kind of twist that leaves you thinking, ā€œWait, what just happened?ā€ The portion was tiny, the pasta was undercooked, and the lamb... well, let’s just say it was more ā€œtough loveā€ than tender. The flavor was as muted as a Monday morning, and the whole thing had me wondering if I accidentally signed up for a cooking class rather than fine dining. My stomach started plotting a revolt, and I feared heartburn city was on the horizon. So, while the venue is absolutely worth a visit, I wouldn’t recommend showing up with an empty stomach and a wallet full of hope. If you’re there for the views, you’ll be in heaven. If you’re there for the food, well... maybe pack a snack.

I’ve been a lot over the years but I think this year was my last. The location is stunning, truly stunning, so everyone should go at least once. However, once is probably enough now. It’s progressively moved to corporate / high end tickets with the result that GA is pretty limited but many sessions now run at under capacity as so much seating is given to very high priced tickets people don’t seem to be buying. The high end tickets don’t even get you anything other than the (empty because they have blocked them out) seating areas. You still have to buy food etc on top. And that brings us to the next problem, the food is incredibly over priced, in all areas, for very, very poor quality festival food. For those prices definitely eat somewhere else before you come. Finally, and probably most importantly, I don’t know if it’s that the sound system is worse, the screen has got old or just the fact that as viewing gets more sparse there is no atmosphere but the actual movie watching experience is now very third rate. The last few movies I’ve seen there I have been very ā€œmehā€ about. However, I’ve then rewatched them in a different environment and really enjoyed them. So, in summary, go for the view and the experience but not for the food or the films!

We’ve been coming to this open air cinema since it began 26 + years ago. There have been a lot of changes (and sponsors) during that time. There’s a dedicated commitment shown by the organisers to improve it from year to year. Last night was our first time back for a few years and the experience just gets better. Congratulations to this years organisers and event managers on providing such a wonderful evening. Definitely the prices have escalated (what hasn’t), but from the moment you walk through the gates, it was a great experience. The staff were particularly lovely, helpful and efficient. I was very impressed to see the organisers are trying hard to minimise waste and use recyclable and sustainable products. From the complimentary Nespresso coffee being served in cups with non plastic lids and coffee cup recycle tubes on site, to the return system of the drinks glasses. Non disposable cutlery/plates and complimentary chocolate that’s ethically and sustainably produced. The current hospitality world can be very hit and miss, so in such a tricky climate I congratulate the organisers and staff for delivering such high quality and applaud the effort that’s gone into this years running of the OAC. I hope this event and experience continues for many years to come. If fortunate to have great weather on the night, it’s without a doubt one of the best nights you could...

I felt diminished when a staff was passing by the tables and offering ice cream. She didn't ask people anything, she just distributed it. However, the only table she missed was the one I was with my partner. I thought it was strange, because I realised that she chose not to come by our table. So, I called her and asked if she was handing out the ice cream. She said yes and asked if I was a Westpac customer. I said no and she asked me if I wanted it anyway, making a pity face. I said no. Afterwards, I watched her to make sure it wasn't a fantasy in my head. She didn't really ask others if they were Westpac customers and was very friendly and nice to others. I felt discrimination and prejudice for not having the physical type that is expected of a Westpac customer. I did not know that to open an account and win an ice cream it was necessary to have some specific type, perhaps white, blonde and with English without an accent. I could one day become a customer of Westpac and move the money I spent on the event through this bank. But if the main provider of this event does not adequately advise its employees to treat everyone without discrimination, I will certainly avoid the services of this bank. I have been to the Open Air Cinema 4 times and this was the first one by Westpac and the first one that I had such an...
