Standing guard outside the Australian Axeman’s Hall of Fame with a gaping maw, and overlooking the historic and picturesque Settler’s Wharf, the Big Platypus definitely lives up to its namesake. Bring your fur baby along to enjoy the awesome off leash park across the way or make use of the playground and amenities and have a picnic with the kids by the river.

Not having an abundance of "big things" in Tassie, I loved it! I didn't see any platypus in the river so at least I saw this. It's important to get directions because without being told, I would never have known it was there. It's beside the Axemans Hall of Fame which is also well worth a visit if you have time (we didn't).

Great history. Its not only big Platypus, its also call The Australia AXEMAN Hall of Flame. *high light, Queen Elizabeth had visited this " Bell's Parade 1954. Suite for every one little to old, pram and wheel chair for day out. Good clean bbq, pinic area, amenities play ground for children
