While the wharf serves no functional or commercial use these days it once had a critical role in local shipping for the local population dating back to the 1860's. And included the shipping of agriculture, timber, livestock and general goods.
Unfortunately the wharf fell into disrepair when the shipping trade declined due to improved roads to the area and shipping ceased in the late 1950's.
