We went out for a SUP at sunrise (September) and it didn't disappoint. It was pretty low tide at the time. Such a beautiful area. On previous trips we have floated up or downstream (dependent on the tide) using noodles or body boards along with our 2 pre-teen kids. It's a gorgeous area. The reserve has a kiosk that is open 8am-2pm and one day we enjoyed their delicious hot chips with a couple of potato scallops followed by an ice cream. Fantastic holiday food! Read moreThis is a very nice area for a full day with picnic, kayaking, paddle boarding and a safe swim for kids. Dogs allowed on leash, but if you cross over the bridge you can leave them off leash and in the water. There is a kiosk open until 4pm, for your basics. There is also a table tennis set and a playground, BBQ, showers and very clean toilets. From there you can take the coastal walk for very gorgeous views. Must arrive early as the water receeds in the afternoon though it is amazing how it creates smaller pools and there are tiny blue crabs that come out of the sand and walk around. Cafe is great, not pricey and staff is super friendly. Amenities are clean, there is a little kids park. Water is perfect for young kids. Parking is $6 mandatory upon entry per car.
