An official 72 hour free rest area in Wagga Wagga with a grassed, flat camping area for 30-40 vehicles and good facilities. Vehicles are required to be self contained.

Access: the park is accessible from the main road into Wagga Wagga. The access road into the park is dirt/gravel and is slightly pot-holed but is an easy drive taken slowly.

Facilities: a simple grassed rest area with a toilet block (no showers), potable water and dump point, bins and a covered seating area with BBQ. There is both natural and man-made shade areas.

Ambiance: despite being close to the main road, noise is not intrusive even at night. The rest area itself is partly shaded and grassed and is a good size.

Wilks Park is an excellent camping location for accessing the wide range of shops and services available in...

Big area to stay in this time of year. Could see in warmer weather becoming CRAMPING... (Not camping or glamping...) Well maintained toilets no showers) only thing that could put you off is one what we thought was a recycle bin was a huge syringe bin.. 4 camps of homeless..Yet were not a problem at all... Not sure if it's different at other times as it rained last night 16/9/19...roads need to be graded badly.. Massive holes...walking distance to coffee shops and bit further all shopping.. Great walking area and Over bridge great walking track along river... Is beside main road to Nth Wagga but wasn't...

Wilks Park at Wagga Wagga is a great place to park your caravan/motorhome/campervan or tent. It's a Free, large, flat, grassy area within walking distance to the CBD and it's shops. There always seems to be a few people stopping here but there's loads of room and usually clean toilets, rubbish bins and room to play with your dog. Check out the photos and enjoy your stay, when you visit Wagga and don't forget to check out the Lookout on Captain Cook Drive which runs off Baden Powell Drive in the Suburb of Mount Austin in Wagga Wagga and it's only a couple of minutes drive from Wilks Park Camping...

A small and welcoming free camp area that allows self contained vehicles to free camp up to three days. Plenty of space and as you can see, many travellers choose to stop in. There is a toilet block, water points, a waste dump point and bins for use. For a first time I've seen it, even a sharps disposal bin, which we actually used. Sadly die to the homelessness crisis happening in Australia, there are many families and individuals living here on a more permanent basis. They do keep to themselves and tuck themselves away on the other side of the path though.
