I was quite disappointed this time around at okami. The kids and I generally love the exciting energy and friendly service. The food, though not as good as the cities, has been in the past, well presented and different and a good change from the average you can find around wagga. This time, it was extremely average. Veg dumplings were gross and gluggy inside, noodles were awful. Some of the meals looked nothing like what was pictured on the menu. The Carpaccio (our favourite) was gritty and unappetising to look at. We had to reorder several dishes, as they were "lost" . Whilst waiting for one of our "lost" orders we realised we were going to be late for our film start, so we called one of the servers who told us that although she didn't know when the food would arrive, we could "go late to the film because there would probably be about 15 minutes of ads" We are nothing if not realists when it comes to this kind of westernised asian fast food, so faced with this we decided to leave. At the counter: the cashier (who was very pleasant unlike the one we shall call "chuckitonthetableontopofthemenueswithoutcollectingtheemptyplatesmakingnoeyecontact" and the other one who we shall call "terrifyingmakeswaytoomuchuncomfortableeyecontactgoshihopehedoesntknowwherewelive") happily highlighted the extras that we had on the docket to make it easier for us to understand why we were paying $177 odd for our meals (coincidentally; the same amount it would cost in petrol to travel to Melbourne and back to have a lovely Japanese meal in a nice restaurant with lovely service and super polite servers who go out of their way to make you feel good about your experience). A fast food meal for 2 adults and 2 children SHOULDN'T COST THIS MUCH. why? In summary: *bad food, *Bad service *Too expensive *AtmsphereMeh *The robot...
Read moreThe food was really good with fresh ingredients. However, some advice for the manager: Hire more staff. We waited 35 minutes to be served, and had to grab someone walking past. Train your staff properly. One girl serving the food stood in the hall each time she received a plate and examined the table numbers on her receipts. She even had to ask other staff for certain table numbers. How was it so hard to organise your tables in a logical numbered order? Some staff didn’t know how to use the iPads properly and didn’t know the numbers of the food, when the menu is quite limited. There was no head waitress/waiter, so they were all running around trying to organise themselves. No one was serving drinks, so the bar tender had the bar full of drinks before they had to come out and serve them themselves. Weird. Put large numbers on the tables. Really. This is basic service training. Consider providing iPads to customers. So much easier and reduces staff requirements. On-a-roll sushi is one example of a successful business who use iPads for customers. Waiting for the staff for 35 minutes to take a first order, then having to trap them when they delivered food to take another order, only to have them say, ‘hold on, I’ll get the ipad’ each time, was stressful as a customer. We did not relax the whole night due to stress over whether we would get served. A wasted experience.
We won’t be back because of this terrible system and bad organisation. However, a shout out to the waitresses that were there last night. You did your best in a crazy situation. You must be...
Read moreWe asked if we can change to sashimi only instead of only the whole platter as we don’t want to eat a lot of rice. The waiter said we can’t do that. The tofu and the miso steak were good so we tried to order it again. After half an hour, we got the yakiniku beef instead. It is really hard to call for staffs as most of the staffs are in the front. I think it is more efficient if one can take cafe of four tables instead of spreading in one place to look after all tables/or setting a device at the table so the customers can order and the order was sent straight to the kitchen, all the staffs need to do is clean the tables and bring the food out. Recommend: chicken kaarage, miso steak, beef carpaccio, mushroom salad, seaweed salad Not recommend: yakiniku beef (got twice wrong orders but the staffs are gone), shrimp tempura (frozen), definitely not the matcha fish (dessert) The shrimp tempura seems to be in the package frozen, same with the fish dessert. Plus points: Decent price. Nice staffs Clean place Have a booking system. Minus points: No paypass/may have surcharge. However you can put the card in to avoid the charge. A lot of wrong orders when busy Hard to order, hard to communicate or call staffs even though they have a lot of staffs. Quite a lot of frozen, you can actually taste it if you know Japanese food are like. Rice are really dry. It seems like they use old/not...
